[QUAD-L] TiLite
I am getting ready to order a new chair and search for the lightest made. Anyone know the total weight of this one after everything is on? Starting weight is 11 http://www.spinlife.com/TiLite-TiLite-ZRa-New-Series-2-Rigid-Wheelchair/spec.cfm?productID=90385 Todd D C-6
[QUAD-L] Condom cath
I use the pop-on condoms with just regular leg bag ( https://www.edgepark.com/shopcatalog/showitemdetails.cfm?psku=509348QTY=3PageRef=UpdateOrderID=5290584 ) Since I live alone with no assistance, i cant use the straps to attach the bag to my shin area like im supposed to, and emptying it in that position is a pita. As a result, everything kind of resides in the front area of my pants. Since there is no gravity working, the condom will just fill up and blow off, instead of going through the tube into the bag. If I am in a bathroom, its easy to just pull the bag out and let gravity do its thing but if i'm stuck somewhere else, there's no pint in wearing this thing because it just doesn't work. Is there any alternatives or a different product that would work? Todd D C-6
Re: [QUAD-L] Condom cath
Todd, you are threading on a slippery slope in doing what you are doing. Cath equipment should be properly secured to the penis and to your leg. And it should be emptied 4-6 times a day, depending on how it fills. How would you protect yourself should failure occur? Best Wishes In a message dated 2/11/2011 1:41:23 P.M. Re: [QUAD-L] Condom cath
The pop-ons are self adhesive, and they connect normally to the leg bag. I transfer so much that without straps, it will end up twisted and wrapped around my leg after a while. Basically, every time I need to go, I have to find a bathroom, take the bag out and lower it to the ground ( kind of simulating if it were attached). Once im done, I just empty it. If the bag is at the same level, on my lap for example, the cath just fills up like a balloon. It's not until it is lowered that the suction or gravity or whatever pulls everything down the tube into the bag. I'm not sure what you mean by what I would do if failure. If the cath blows off, everything goes in the washer, and I hit the shower. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. Re: [QUAD-L] Condom cath
How about hanging a pouch underneath your wheelchair and putting the bag inside of the pouch. That way you have gravity working for you and draining down into the legbag inside the pouch. You can set it up so that it's discreet and no one sees the tubing or bag. Of course, you'll need to remember to move it when you transfer. I don't know which condom caths you use, but there are some brands and models with more adhesive than others. I highly recommend the Hollister Extra. RE: [QUAD-L] Condom cath
I do like Don suggests and even use a 2.5L bedside bag. Can't fill it up in 8+ hours and the tubing, which I thread through a hole cut in my pocket, won't/can't kink. Has worked great for many years. Re: [QUAD-L] Condom cath
I used a plain condom and tightened the strap until it couldn't 'pop' off - the end IS larger than the middle. the gravity thing is a must for this type to work at all - I tucked the bottom into my sock so no bottom strap was needed. there are a few different empty valves, I still use Bard 'flip-flow'. --- _http://www.bestbuycatheters.com/product/BRD%20150432_ (http://www.bestbuycatheters.com/product/BRD%20150432) bad pictures - ask and I'll find a better one. azdave In a message dated 2/11/2011 12:41:23 P.M.
