Taking Elavil, Lyrica, zanaflex for nerve pain. No pain relief, but I do
sleep well because of them. I'm sure if I ever quit I won't get any sleep.

Go to ACE hardware and buy a small electric sprayer $10. It is made to
spray checmicals like Roundup, Weed B Gone, etc. It will attach to the top of
a 1/2 gallon iced tea bottle. It takes 2 batteries, but partially freeze
the bottle and you spray cold water all day. It does take much hand
strength to push the switch.

[QUAD-L] FW: Constituent Response From Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison

2011-06-15 Thread Ismael Cavazos

From: Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison [mailto:sena...@hutchison.senate.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, May 31, 2011 10:58 AM

Subject: Constituent Response From Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison

Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the fiscal year (FY) 2012 budget. I
welcome your thoughts and comments.

A spending spree that accelerated during the last Congress has already
driven up the national debt to the legal limit -- more than $14 trillion. This
unprecedented debt burden is hurting our fragile economic recovery, and poses a
long-term threat to America's prosperity and security. Our first priority must
be to stop skyrocketing deficits, bring the federal budget under control, and
move to a balanced budget.

On February 14, 2011, the White House released President Barack Obama’s
budget proposal for FY 2012. Rather than moving toward fiscal responsibility,
the President's proposal would have made things much worse. With a $3.7
trillion price tag, the President’s budget called for massive deficit spending
that would lead to a $1.6 trillion deficit in FY 2011 and a $1.1 trillion
deficit in FY 2012.

The Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate has not offered a better solution.
Senate rules require adoption of an annual budget resolution by April 15, to
set priorities and spending caps. For the second consecutive year, Senate
Democrats have failed to put forward a budget resolution for consideration.
This two-year failure has resulted in a budget free-for-all that has driven up
deficits, frustrated attempts to set spending priorities, and threatened
several times to force a federal government shut-down.

A new low point of irresponsibility was reached on May 25, 2011, when the
Senate majority voted to block debate and voting on amendments for three
different Republican budget resolutions -- without putting forward a proposal
of its own. Senate Democrats then voted (unanimously) against the President's
budget proposal. According to the Senate Majority Leader, it would be
"foolish" for Senate Democrats to support any budget resolution.

The American people understand that Congress and the White House must work
together to put the government's financial house in order. To fail to act
decisively will saddle our children and their children with trillions of
dollars of federal debt, do long-lasting harm to our economy, force us to
reduce or eliminate spending for important national priorities, and bankrupt
Social Security and Medicare.
I have cosponsored S.J. Res. 10, which would amend the U.S. Constitution
to require a federal balanced budget, with annual federal spending capped at 18
percent of our Gross Domestic Product. However, I oppose the trillions of
dollars in new taxes that the President and his supporters in Congress have
proposed to pay for increased federal spending. As we recover slowly from a
long, painful economic recession, tax revenue has been increasing.
Out-of-control deficits are due to government spending increasing at an even
faster rate.

We are at a critical time. We must make bold cuts in spending where we
can in FY 2012, while carefully prioritizing investment and research in areas
of strategic national importance. We also must reform Social Security,
Medicare and Medicaid so that vital retirement and health benefits will be
there for those who depend on them today and those who will need them in the
future.

In the coming weeks, Congress will face difficult decisions about short-
and long-term spending priorities. A crucial point will be reached later this
year when the federal government's monthly $100 billion deficit brings it to
the statutory $14.3 trillion limit on accumulated debt. As we reach these
critical decision-making points, please be assured that I will keep your
thoughts and advice in mind.

I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to
contact me on any issue that is important to you.

Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchison

First of all, I wish you success with your cause. 2nd, as the imaginary
General Manager of Hilton Embassy Suites Hospitality I have to ask What
size? Should it be equipped with a Trapeze and auto-remote operation. How
much weight should it be able to hold? Should it be hospital chrome or
powder coated? Should the hospital bed be ordered to support other adaptive
devices, for breathing? Should we order special mattresses for each
individual need? Because a hospital bed is not required under ADA Guidelines,
it
would be a courtesy or convenient item and should we charge extra for the
courtesy. Consider that any air-type mattress could be subject to puncture
and require an occasional repair, for the next customer. Where would we
store such a bed, in between uses and ensure that it is clean and sanitized for

the next user.
Presently, there are several hospital beds on the commercial market place.
They begin around 1500 dollars and go up to more then 6500 dollars. Can
you assure us that by purchasing such a special needs bed for the general
resident with disAbilities that we will not be sued for not having the
proper medical bed for a hotel guest. The cost of outfitting each of our
properties with just one bed could cost millions. How do we justify such a
cost
for something that may not be used that often. Your input is wisely
solicited.
The imaginary General Manager

For some, its easy. Rehab Program and doctor's referrals. However, for
others, it is not always that easy. Besides a good primary doctor, you will
also require a good Urologist and Rehab Medicine Doctor. If you live close
to a major sci rehab center the task will be much easier. Otherwise, you
should consider going to the SCI Association's website, for medical doctor

If you know any other quads in your area, contact them and see who they use
and whether they like them or not.

I think they saw us as wise investments. True to form, we were. Who do
you think built those tall skyscrapers.. and were able to walk the line at
100 stories. The gaming casinos were not a bad idea either. Those investment
were slow to return big money but in the end it did. (i used allowed very
carefully)

Re: [QUAD-L] burning sensation in bladder

2011-06-15 Thread wheelchair
The burning could be the results of infection, irritation or chemicals.
Most Urologist do not know who to work with SCI Quads. And it takes time.
I will forward a copy of this to my contacts with the Nal SCI Assoc.

My 24 yr old son has been a quad almost 3 yrs. He got a super pubic
catheter about 6 months after he became a quad. He started to get a horrible
burning pain almost 24/7 around his bladder about 3 months ago. He has had
burning before but never this bad. They found he had bladder stones, did laser
surgery about a month ago and some came out. More pieces have come out in
urine since surgery. The urologist told him the burning pain would never go
away though. Has anyone had this and if so do you still have the horrible
pain? How do you deal with it? He is beside himself and is ready to end his
life - please help.

Bless you,
Connie
