Re: [QUAD-L] Its Not About The Number Of Years...
Hi Greg , I'm so sorry to hear about the experience of your grandmother. I encourage everybody to write about the new labor laws that drastically affect people on self-directed care. It will cut The Number of Hours a Caregiver Can Work. Caregivers have to work extra hours, because Of the Difficulty of finding people who will work for the hourly rate paid for the caregivers on state programs. States Do Not have the money to pay time and a half. This is Really an important issue To contact your legislators about. These laws have been waived in the past reguarding consumer directed care programs. Does this affect their anyone else on the Quad-list? RE: [QUAD-L] I'm 60 years old today
I also celebrate both, I figure that I have earned the right to have more than one celebration per year. J I try very hard to live in a healthy manner up to a point. There are certain things I'm not giving up, brandy, Rum, wine, Margaritas, Irish whiskey, Kahlua,--oh, you guys were talking about healthy living, let me see, darn, I can't think of anything. LOL. I'm always reminded of the story of a little couple who were in their nineties, really into organic food, working out, and generally living an exemplary life with church and volunteering. On the way home from church one day they were T-boned by a large truck and died on the scene. They immediately found themselves in front of Saint Peter and the Pearly Gates, who gave them a warm welcome an escorted them to their new home. He told the husband that he knew he loved golf, so their new home was on a golf course. The husband asks "what is this going to cost me" and Saint Peter replies "nothing, you have earned this, you're in Heaven now". The next morning the husband gets up, plays nine holes of golf and sits down to a beautiful breakfast. Saint Peter comes to see how they are settling in, and the husband asks "what is this going to cost me" and Saint Peter replies "nothing, you have earned this, you're in Heaven now" the husband raises his eyebrows but says nothing. Later in the afternoon after a nice long nap, Saint Peter appears and asks if they would like to go visit those who had gone before them. They eagerly agreed and went outside to find a beautiful Mercedes convertible, lovely sunshine, and of course the perfect amount of breeze to keep it cool. The old man goes over to the car, checks out the leather seats, turns and asks Saint Peter "what is this going to cost me"? Saint Peter replies "nothing, you have earned this, you're in Heaven now". The old man turns to his wife, kicks her in the butt and she falls down to her knees. She looks up at him and says "what was that for?" The old man replies "If it wasn't for your damn healthy food, and perfect life we could've been here many years ago". Like others have said I'm going through those pearly gates yelling "WOW, what a ride that was"! I hope you all have a great day, and make somebody laugh as it's contagious. Joan

Re: [QUAD-L] Tilt Squeal
Sounds like the actuator to me. I've replaced 2 on my old, comfortable chair. If your chair is still under warranty having it replaced shouldn't be an issue. Nan From: greg To: quad-list@eskimo.com Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 7:08 PM Subject: [QUAD-L] Tilt Squeal After I tilt back, as I am coming back up, my chair just squeals loudly. My helper tried spraying all the moving areas with WD40, but it made no difference. She said the noise was coming from the tilt motor. There is no way to get inside it to spray. Do you think it needs lubed some how, or could it be battery related? I know my ceiling lift squeals just like that when it's battery is going dead. But my chair is not dead. Though I know the chair has 2 batteries. Not sure if 1 battery is for the driving and 1 for the tilt and reclining system. Or if they drain from both batteries together at the same time. Do you think I need a new tilt motor or new batteries? If it's batteries, it would probably cost me less to buy them myself at he battery store. Thanks, Greg
