Fwd: [QUAD-L] Pillows?
Same here, Bobbie. If it is too thick or too thin, my neck and shoulder hurt terribly. I use two pillows, the bottom one rather firm and the top one soft and fluffy. When it gets hard, my ear and neck hurt - feels like sleeping on a rock. I sleep on my left side only. How many of you sleep with a pillow behind your head when you sleep on your back? I can't it hurts my neck to much. But when I sleep on my side I need a VERY thick pillow to support my neck. Re: [QUAD-L] Big Prob...
hi, I hear you. I'd be using OxyContin and Fentyl for the last four years. 30 mg. Very 3 hrs, and patches at 250 mg changing every 48 hours. I too have a problem with my bowel program, seems it's either very soft and sticky or very hard and needing an enima to evacuate. When I do that it really screws everything up. Best advice I can give you is to keep it soft at least it's coming down. When I need to go (badly my BP is every other day), I will use warm prune juice and double doses of MiraLAX. My body goes when it has to, and it seems that it takes 48 to 54 hours for those solutions to finally work. I have been prescribed Amitiza and it does work to keep me regulated most times. There is a $200 co-pay for a 90 day supply. Sadly, our schedules are slaves to our bowel programs. I will look for advice from our other friends on the list to see if there is anything that I have not tried. Just thought that our situations are so mirrored that I would dictate this off to you. My husband has been paralyzed since 1992. In 2008, he opted for a colostomy. Actually he had no choice as it was under emergency circumstances, but they did explain it would be reversible. However it is so much more convenient---he has never considered going back. No more being a slave to the BP. Re: [QUAD-L] Pillows?
I sleep with two thin pillows under my head and one pillow covering my head [keeps it warm, dark and quiet.] I know I'm weird. I start out on my back and turn side to side during the night. I mounted a grab bar on the wall next to my bed about three inches above the bed. I'm able to slide my hand underneath it and using my biceps I can get to my elbows and turn myself. Works like a charm for me! Don. Larry, I sleep 75% of the time on my left side as well and when I do, I use a 5 memory foam pillow between my knees that I got from Hammacher Schlemmerker for $50 because I was have intense pain in my lower back ... but no more. My BP program became much better when I started taking calcium with magnesium . I am still surprised that my stools are always soft. Have not used any of the other things mentioned since. You can just buy magnesium pills and as far as how much, you will have to experiment. It changed my life. I also use magic bullet.
