Re: [QUAD-L] Belly binder
I've been using abdominal binders for 20 years now. They aren't that difficult to put on it you know how to do it or have the help. Because if you're doing it by yourself it is difficult. As for me, it keeps my posture straight which helps me prevent the shoulder injuries whenever I'm not in proper position. It also aids in my breathing, blood pressure, and appearance. I don't use it for the bowels anymore. I got more out of abdominal massage therapy when I was doing my bowel regimen. Now I have a colostomy, so that doesn't apply. I used an abdominal binder with a suprapubic for about 17 years and had no difficulty with it whatsoever. I have boys worn my abdominal binder about an inch or two above where the suprapubic goes in. I did have problems with my suprapubic, but that was because of bladder atrophy. My abdominal binder woes are pretty complicated now. I have an urostomy and a colostomy, which requires a special type of abdominal binder. Whenever I wear the top binder without the lower one to support my belly protrudes a little too much down there and causes difficulty with the way first. I have ordered a new abdominal binder, but right now I'm using one which was designed for a urostomy and I cut a hole in the other side. It works, but it's not the greatest. I do have a slight quad gut, but if I take the abdominal binders off it's much more pronounced in my spine curves a lot more. That's why it's important to where the abdominal binders for many people. You can definitely tell the difference between someone who wears them all the time and people who do not. At least that's my opinion. I'm sure there are some people who are able to maintain posture without abdominal binders. Hopefully that helps a little. Quadius sorry about the errors, I'm in a hurry and I'm bouncing around a little bit in my chair. Therefore my desk microphone is it necessarily picking up my voice the way it should be. It's my fault, but I need to exercise while I'm dictating. :-) On Tue, Jul 14, 2015 at 9:52 PM, Fragile wrote: > any chance that you, or anybody else here uses one of these and also > has a suprapubic catheter? I use a binder on and off. When my breathing is not well, or when my stomach is not feeling well, or just going out somewhere nice. There are lots of types of binders, some have up to 6 straps to tighten and close. I use a real simple one. Very easy to use and no straps. It just folds over tight. Best one I've used and least cost. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WUZ7GI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Greg

Thank you Shirley, Nicki and W. It really helps to know that others understand what I'm going through. My family just doesn't get it. Didn't eat or drink - ended up septic ... vent, pic line, feeding tube, pull the plug discussions - the whole 9 yards. Don't remember much which I am very thankful for. Another week in the hospital in March - my potassium skyrocketed and they called me at 10PM to tell me to go to ED. Got that under control. Nurse smashed my knee while in during March, nice sore there now. My legs got so thin from being in bed, so now I have 3 sores on my left leg, one is down to the bone. The Wound Care Clinic is beginning to feel like home! Feeling much better now. Hopefully things will start to look up now.". Things are not looking better... I now have Osteomyelitis - my left leg where the sores are. All are deep and look horrendous. I've done everything the Wound Care Clinic has told me to do, but they just keep getting worse. Tomorrow I get a PICC line and antibiotics ... the waiting and anticipation is horrible. I'm scared because PICC lines never go easy for me. I just want to run away. I'm tired of fighting, of being hurt, of being patient. My optimism is nearly a thing of the past. I feel like I am hanging on by a thread... So far, getting to be an old quad sucks ...

Re: [QUAD-L] Belly binder
A binder is supposed to help with breathing, posture, digestion, and elimination because it lines your innards up more like they are supposed to be. And of course, makes you look a tad more presentable. It's a lot of trouble to put on and off, though. I already go through hell trying to get dressed. Don't need more. Me too, Glenn. Pot gut looks bad, feels bad, flops around like hog belly, and is impossible to shrink. I wore a binder 20 years ago when it wasn't so big. Now it's too big to bind. Good afternoon, Over the past several weeks I noticed quite a few post concerning a belly binder. Other than looks, those a belly binder poll physically? I am a C5/6 of 48 years and I have the quad gut. I watch what I eat, but cannot get rid of any of it. Thanks, GA
