Hi Larry and all,

Yes, dry mouth does set up a situation that *can* lead to bad teeth. Here is
an article I wrote
on Medication, Dry Mouth, and How to Save Your Teeth for New Mobility:

Re: [QUAD-L] Gallbladder problems?

Nicki, I don't understand, do you have a colostomy now? BTW, how much is
involved with getting the surgery to have a colostomy? How long does the
recovery take? Do you have to stay in the hospital? Why do you think this is
your gall bladder?

I had a major hemorrhoidectomy last December and considered a colostomy
then.

The amount of feces coming out at night would probably blow a colostomy bag
offseriously.
However, I am having pain when sitting on shower chair and I think it's my
rear (hemorrhoids), we just don't see any prolapsed yet.

I will again be considering a colostomy if more problems present.

I was having issues like that, also about 1 or 2 times a week I was leaking
just enough to leave a mark and smell. I was embarrassed every time I had to
get lifted out of my chair. I finely got a colostomy. I only wish I would
have gotten it 30 years ago. I put it off thinking it would be embarrassing,
but it was s much nicer. Fast, easy, clean, 2 minutes a day, 5 minutes
once a week or so. And that's over estimating. I recommend looking into it
and asking your Doc.

Re: [QUAD-L] Medicaid?

2015-11-05 Thread Jim Lubin
I checked the invoice for the wheelchair I got in 2010. Cost $31,085,
patient portion $0.

I don't know how it is assessed in other states, in Washington it is based
on how you score on Personal Care Assessment Key shown here
https://www.dshs.wa.gov/altsa/home-and-community-services/information-clients

this page show the types of in-home services available
https://www.dshs.wa.gov/altsa/home-and-community-services/home-care-adults

I have both agency nurses and independent private duty nurses who contract
directly with the state, my choice who I hire.

Medicaid helps with caregivers in California. How does assets in a trust not be
considered monthly income?

If you get a special needs trust through a lawyer any money within the trust
doesn't have to be claimed and is essentially hidden.

[QUAD-L] Mole Nerve Endings

2015-11-05 Thread greg
I have an issue with my shoulder. Right by my shoulder blade. I had a mole that
hurt when touched or had pressure on my mattress. They removed it, but now it
hurts worse. It feels like a knife is stabbing me, so bad I can feel sick. But
then some days no pain at all. Even though I have no feeling in most of my arm,
none in fingers. It often feels like I have a numb nerve going down my arm. And
my middle 3 fingers feel numb, like when you bang your elbow. Though they have
no real feeling. I would swear a knife is stuck in my shoulder blade. Nothing
seems to help, Ibuprofen, my pain meds MS-Contin don't phase it, Cortisone
shot. It can be gone 4 or 5 days, then back for weeks. My doc thinks its the
mole's nerve ending, and don't think much can help. But there has to be
something. Kill the nerve or something.
I'm sure not SCI related, but anyone else have anything like this?
Greg

[QUAD-L] Doc Referral

2015-11-05 Thread greg
I finely got an appointment with a rehab doc. It's not for 2 months though. I
could see the nurse practitioner sooner, but think I need to see the top dog
first. It took so long to just get the correct referral sent in, mainly because
my primary docs nurses kept screwing up. I had names, addresses, everything
typed up that they needed to know. I had the word Physiatrist written on it.
They wrote the referral to the correct doctor's name, address, etc., but wrote
psychiatrist on it. So they could not except it. So I called them back, but 2
days later, they did the exact same thing. It too 3 more days before they
finely got the correct referral sent in.
