Re: [QUAD-L] New Chair ?

Why not call Invacare directly and get the story from them. Tell them
what you want and why you want to. Let them pull while you are pushing. BTW,
who's the customer anyway? Customer, is always right. Call
Medicare/Medicaid in your state and let them know what the provider is doing
to you.

don’t even want to demo any chairs. The DME vendor is having problem

in an Invacare Action Arrow Storm for 19 years. They no longer make this

I called vendor to tell them to order the Invacare but they told me we
have to provide reasons why the other chairs won’t work before the FDA will

So they still want me to demo chairs and come up with reasons they won’t
work.
I am so frustrated. I know one deal breaker is the armrests because I have
a bag that we attach to a particular spot on my armrest and I put my leg
bag in it so it is hidden. Their suggestion is to put in on front of seat
pan. That won’t work, not even gonna try it, what’s not broke doesn’t need
fixed.
Also, I believe by having the same base I won’t have to move e-z locks in
the floor of my van where as if the other bases are different not only will
I have to pay to have bolt added to chair but the expense of moving the
bases.
Anyone else want to help me come up with reasons why other chairs won’t
work?
My rear is the one that sits in it so why can’t I just pick what I

I’m getting my 3rd chair in 19 years. I have had the Invacare Action Arrow
Storm for all 19 years. Invacare got in trouble with the FDA and are under
a consent decree with them. My DME is really trying to steer me away from
getting an Invacare chair. It would be a Torque 3. I am suppose to be
testing it as well as a Permobil C350 and a Quantum Rival. The provider
brought
out the Quantum on Friday and it has a plate footrest (I have always had 2
footrest which allows me to straddle table posts at restaurants) I don’t
even think my feet would stay on a center mounted foot plate. They were
suppose to bring the Invacare first and the employee agreed he didn’t think my
feet would stay on the plate. He even told me that the motors in the Rival
go out but I didn’t hear that from him. The DME supplier is trying to get
footrests for the demo chairs but said they can only get 1 side for the
Invacare.
Would love input on any of these chairs.

You know how when someone is in a car accident they often claim a neck injury,
which is nondescript and difficult to pinpoint.  You just have trouble sitting
up all day in those chairs.  You don't understand why, but it hurts and you
have to go back to bed.  Only the Invacare seems to allow for your sitting up
all day.

Re: [QUAD-L] Battery

2017-07-19 Thread wheelchair
If I may. If this issue was an automobile, a dealer would hook up the
auto to a computer to analyze the issue. Electric wheelchairs users and
dealers don't have that issue. But each chair has a control module that directs

energy to each motor, from the energy of the combined batteries, using the
joystick as the guide. Motors, and Magnets Brakes, are the biggest users
of energy on a wheelchair, so each motor and magnetic brake assembly must be
tested before and during the operation of the chair to determine the high
energy draw, rather than just replacing the batteries and joystick.

I hope this helps.

My chair is possessed. I had battery issues, so changed, twice. Still was
getting about 5 blocks a charge. They tried getting a new joystick, but
couldn't, to old. They were going to replace entire electronics, but then I
would not be eligible for a new chair.

I found a joystick on Ebay. It seemed to fix it. But after a few weeks,
its weird again. My charger works, tried 2 to be sure. But some days it
charges full, some days none. Charged 2 nights not going anywhere, still only
shows 1 bar. Now when I drive, it will just jerk, stop cold, joystick flash “
Recharge”. I drive a bit more, same thing. Does it when it says full or
empty.

Its like a loose wire, but if loose, it would die, go black. Sometimes it
feels like the electric breaks are one while driving. I put in mode 2, slow
speed and it didn't seem to jerk stop as much.

Any ideas?
Hoping to gwt new chair soon, Greg
