Re: [QUAD-L] Voice Operated TV Google, Alexa, others?
Please consider yourselves all very fortunate that you have a house and are able to enjoy all of these things. I lost all of that when I lost my husband. Thankfully, I don't watch more than 30 to 45 minutes of TV so since my live-in caregiver doesn't care for TV either I called Comcast to try to lower my bill but they would only come down $30 if I got the basic channels which consists of about 8 or 9 channels with some of them only in Spanish. Happy trails... C4/5 here as well, I know it's not TV related to your question, Randy, but I just installed Alexa enabled controllers for my fans in the house. I only just stumbled on these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GKGB6L5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just overhauled my house for automation, I went with Alexa due to ease of use and more products seem to be Alexa friendly vs Google: - Thermostat - Lights (at least one I can control in every room) - Fans - Echo Dot in each room - Firestick in each TV (smart or dumb TV, I can at least control programming) Aaron Mann On Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 9:32 AM wrote: > I have an Amazon Firetv and the fire tv app on my phone. I have an Amazon Firetv and the fire tv app on my phone. I can control lot of stuff, turn tv on/off, control amazon prime tv, netflix, other apps. I cannot control Directtv box. My friend c/5 has Amazon Cube. It controls his Dish network channels plus everything I can do with Amazon tv. Derrick i think Cube be best. read up on that product. The picture on our TV went out yesterday morning so I'm looking for another one. I'm seeing that some TVs they come with an option of using your voice with Google or Alexa, and maybe others. I do have Alexa now, mostly lights, a phone call now and then, etc. Do any of you have a TV with these functions? How well does it work for you, do you prefer Alexa or Google? Is Alexa or Google more user-friendly for a hands-free operation? Are there other options I should be aware of? If anybody has a TV with the Alexa and Google function, which TV do you own? Do or don't you like it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Randy
Re: [QUAD-L] Voice Operated TV Google, Alexa, others?
Hello Randy, I have a Toshiba fire TV that I control with Alexa /Amazon echo. Good for opening and closing different apps, watching anything streaming. I also use a Broadlink RM pro in combination with the echo to change channels on dish network. The Broadlink RM pro took a while to figure out, but once past the initial set up and frustration, it's pretty useful.
