I find my own by asking on Facebook…I’ve had great luck doing that.

What have you been doing for caregivers up to now?

Anyone know of an emergency caregiver service that you can call and ask someone
to start right away? The Phoenix Arizona area. Only for about 6 to 8 weeks. I
could probably go with the caregiver doing a couple hours morning and a couple
hours at night. Or a live-in. I just don't know if I will need it, but if I do,
it would be right away. A lot of family health issues going on, all hitting at
once.

My insurance covers for healthcare, but it's only when I need actual medical
services not just custodial care.

Thanks so much, Greg

I came home from hospital without any bowel control schedule. First
think is that he should get a urologist for bladder and rehab
nurse/doctor for bowels.
lwhelchair lists most used system for controlling bowel/urine. all
depends on who you have helping you andwhat you can do.

in short.
for bowel. get colostomy or get on schedule of doing bowel program every
other day/or 3 days/or daily depending on your body and food.
take senokote with big meal the evening before your bowel program. use
an enema or suppository the next morning to stimulate bowel movement.
may need nurse to stick finger up butt to help in removing stool.

urine.
 indwelling,
texas/condom for males,
intermitten cathing every 4 hours.
superpubic(sp?)

wearing diapers and using under pads that soak up urine on your bed at
night would be helpful untiil he gets on a schedule. avoid getting
urine/poop on his skin as much as you can because they cause skin
breakdown. not good. use diaper rash creams.

You did not mention if your C4 Friend was male or female and if they
were in a spinal rehab unit after what caused this to happen.  Bowel
and Bladder Management is considered normal with any spinal cord
injury to keep a post injury body healthy.  Bladder management can be
controlled with an indwelling or Texas catheter, for males.  With
females, its usually indwelling catheter.  If that is the method
chosen, then make sure as a caregiver that you are properly instructed
on how it works and learn how to make corrections and how to change
one in the event that the discharge tube becomes blocked.  Bowel
control, can be normally controlled or managed using a daily program,
using a number of trial n errors with chemistry in pill, tablet or
suppositories/amuels.  A Rehab Nurse would be your best source for
additional information.  What State is the person living.
