Thank you for asking! All is well. We will be celebrating Isabella's 10th birthday next week. Time flys. We use to instant message each other before she was born...back in my beer drinking days :-) Remember? I use to chat with you, Dave0c & Jerry (the hobbit). DeeDee, It's so good to hear from you. How are things with you? How's Dave? How is your daughter and granddaughter? Things with me and Pete are going pretty dam great considering the extreme stress were dealing with this bed sore crap.Bobbie Smile Everyday -Original Message- From: bobbie299 To: diannal767 Sent: Wed, Apr 3, 2013 9:29 pm Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Help, I don't know what to do anymore? Hi Bobbie, I'm so sorry to hear about your long stay in bed. I can't relate to that but I spend a lot of time on FB playing Words with Friends. Netflix helps me kill some time. I once had a quad friend, he was much older & has since past. He spent his time on a gurney on his belly so he wouldn't be stuck in his room. When it gets warmer maybe this is something you can do. If nothing else, to get outside & feel the sun on your body. Dianna Everybody, Back in December I was getting up just once a week, then the day after Christmas I stayed in bed through Febuary. In March I was starting getting up twice a week for 3 weeks ...… then BAMM -- the rt was pulled out from under me again and I've been in bed ever since. It's always the same freaking thing, just a superficial wound, enough to keep me in bed.I'm starting to go wacko, trying to keep myself busy. Now that the weather, here in New Jersey, is trying to get warmer (down to 25 last night and tonight) I want to feel like I might be able to PLAN something. What do you guys do at times like these? -Original Message- From: bobbie299 <bobbie...@aol.com> To: Quad-list <Quad-list@eskimo.com> Sent: Wed, Apr 3, 2013 3:26 pm Subject: [QUAD-L] Help, I don't know what to do anymore? In response to a chronic pressure sore: obviously you realize this is not good. Even if the sore is not increasing in size there is a huge danger in having an open sore--this is, literally, an open invitation for an infection. Sores on your butt are exponentially more risky due to the possible contact with e. coli from feces. You mentioned that you have used a Roho consistantly. Perhaps there's a better option out there for you? If you're unable to sleep on your stomach or stay in bed why not consider an air-bead bed or other specialty bed? I would hate to see you get really sick from this sore--an open decubitus is NOT something to take lightly! I'm only getting 'preachy' here because I care and don't want to lose any more quad friends due to preventable conditions! Don.
Re: [QUAD-L] Help, I don't know what to do anymore?
Bobbie, You're certainly preaching to the choir here. Most of us quads have been through the mind-numbing frustration of having to spend extended time in bed. It really can cause a person to go stir-crazy and spiral into depression. Here's my humble bit of advice: you mentioned you wanted to plan something, so my suggestion is to start planning something [or everything!] While laying in bed might be boring, it's a golden opportunity to get your life and "to do list" in order! Make a list of the top-ten places you want to visit. Write down the books you've always wanted to read (have someone check your local library for books on CD). Make a life-plan of where you want to be in a year, 5 years, 20 years. Think of 10 classic movies you've never seen and rent them. Think of friends you haven't contacted in years and surprise them with a letter you've typed or dictated. Go online to Khan Academy and take free, self-paced review classes in math, science, humanities. Go online to Do One Thing and plan to better your community. There are soo many things you can do with your time while you're healing. The worst thing you can do is nothing because that's when the negative thoughts creep in. Keep your mind active and productive. Actively visualize your sore healing. Read up on alternative therapies. Stay active in your life! Take control!! Written with love, Don.

Damn, Bobbie, I'm pretty much speechless. I've had a sore about 3x4 in on my butt for over 6 yrs. It has hardly any depth, but it never changes - no better, no worse. I do not have your self-discipline. I have spent no extensive time in bed which, obviously, I should have. I use a Roho cushion and sit up 12-15 hrs. a day. We dress it morning and night. I figure I'll have it till I leave this world. Maybe I'm a nut, but I just cannot lie in bed day and night. The pain is ridiculous. I know I didn't help a bit, but know I certainly empathize with your situation. It is a bowl of crap with a crap soda and dish of crap on the side. Another shitty quandry from the wonderful world of quadom. God bless and good luck.
