Re: [QUAD-L] Help with PCA ad

2015-07-01 Thread shirley bell
Hi Joan, in your add, it says position is with an agency? but you hire after?
how does it work in your state. In RI, I was on a Medicare part c program for
many years until the agency closed due to mismanagement of funds by director,
really bad. I AM NO LONGER RECEIVING ANY HELP.Anyway, I was issued checks to
pay my pca's that I hired. It is hard now because I can't receive help unless I
get on Medicaid and don't qualify because I have more than 10 thousand in
savings. It is such a bad system. I have tried to stay off Medicaid and support
myself and they push people to get on it to receive any help! My husband will
be helping me now but as we are all talking about, things can change in an
instant. I try not to worry but its hard. Do others get help from their states?
Best,
Shirley Bell

  Hi Bobbie

This is a sample of what I use. I just change it for specific needs. I use
craigslist, Facebook pages that are appropriate (we have one: Word-of-Mouth
jobs that is great). Good luck. I HATE looking for new attendants. Joan

PART TIME PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT (NORTH VALLEY)

Personal care attendant part time. Quadriplegic woman in North Valleys Pay
$10.75 an hour. Complete background checks are required. Saturday and Sunday
from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. If interested in more time it can also include Monday.

Position is with an agency, but we hire after interviews. Duties include
personal care, bathing, dressing, fixing breakfast, feeding, and transfers into
wheelchair. We have an overhead lift for transfers. No experience necessary,
we will train

I am looking for someone who wants the part time job for the foreseeable
future, and is not just in between jobs and looking for something
temporary. It also takes two or three weeks for training and background checks
before you start work. If interested reply with a brief description of
yourself, it is not necessary to send a resume at this point. Please include
your phone number and what time is the best time to call. Thank you so much

  Hey folks,

I really need your help! If you're like me, you have a lot of things to say
when it comes to helping others, but not so much when it comes to ourselves!

Well, I'm in the middle of a rainstorm and am having trouble! I need to find
an attendant! Part time help for evenings. What I need help with is putting
together an ad and ideas on where to put the ads!

  Any and all suggestions welcome!

  Thanks,

  Lori

So sorry Lori

We have a school of nursing here in Reno as well as a school of nursing at the
Truckee Meadows community college. I found a couple of good attendants but we
had problems scheduling around their schedule J. They are also only looking for
the most part for during the school year and they’re gone during holidays.
Perhaps you will have more luck. My biggest problem is finding somebody for the
weekends-hired one last month, after four days plus money out of pocket,
decided that it was too emotional of a job! Back to the drawing board. Good
luck Joan

Thank you, Joan! Btw, this is Lori! And, I agree! I HATE looking for an
attendant too!!

My roommate got sick, last October and can't do the bulk of it anymore :-( He
has been helping me since 1996!! And, my good friend has been helping me since
1999!! Needless to say, this has been a shock to my system! I've been very
blessed with the 2 best attendants I could ever imagine! Didn't think I took it
for granted until he got sick. My world was turned upside down! We thought we
were going to lose him, he was that sick.

I did have a young girl take over the evenings, but she moved out of state.
Another girl took over the weekend mornings (a neighbor) Now I'm once again
looking! :-\

I'm thinking of putting an ad at the 2 colleges in my area (in the nursing
school area)
