Try backing onto the rug and while you are on it. Works for me.

Same issue..I have wood floors and it happens most on a rug by the front door,
because I have to turn a bit to open it. I double back taped a rubber /
plastic, chair mat for office rug / chairs. A lot have spikes to they don't
move, but you can find big flat ones. If you don't mind a slight bump, a 1/8
sheet of plywood works too. You don't see it much.

Electric Wheelchairs, and rugs/carpets, are a no no. Granted it may take
more time if its a tack down vs a throw rug, but any rug.

One possible answer would be buy some duralock plastic Velcro and stick
the edges down. Im sure this wont be popular with the housekeeper. Or like
you say find some plastic edging to lay on the start of the rug, might still
need the plastic Velcro though called duralock.

Yup, been there. The torque on the chair is causing the rug to come up. Bet it
happens when the chair must first turn before exiting the rug area.

I used two sided tape on the outside width and length about at the edge of the
rug. Stays down gr8.

I have a large area rug in my living room. It seems like the larger the rug,
the harder it is to move it around with your chair. Plus there's a sizable
coffee table on one portion. Doesn't exactly leave as much room as I'd like but
I don't tear up or get caught up in the rugs.
