RE: [QUAD-L] Question for the group

2006-05-26 Thread Susan Johnson
As an AB mother of a 1 and 2 year old, I find it frustrating that the baby
changing tables are usually located in the HD stalls. Some of them are in
the common area but 9 times out of 10 you have to do the walk of shame if
you see someone waiting whom the stall was intended.

On a different note:

Does anyone have any tips as how to get Medicare to reinstate rehab? Is it
something where you have to get so bad you have to be checked back into the
hospital?

My father is 69, c/3 c/4 partial, and he does incredibly well with rehab.
However, since they have released him about 6 weeks ago he has lost a lot of
mobility in addition to a lengthy list of problems, and I'm frightened to
see where this is leading.

Do any of you think he should look into a live-in facility for that kind of
constant therapy? We're struggling to find his options here. Right now he
feels like he's just wasting away which is so awful because he does so
well with physical therapy.

Also, does anyone have Mercedes Ruins'(sp?) contact information? She has
helped him in the past with all kinds of wonderful information and for some
reason each email or phone number I find for her, on the internet, is
incorrect.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Hey,
What do you guys do when you enter a restroom and their are several stalls but a walking Joe is in the handicapped stall. This forces you to wait awhile, then the Joe walks out of the stall finally, do you guys say something, stare him or her down, or let it go. When I let it go I feel like I am letting disabled individuals as a whole down.

You'd be doing us real damage by lipping off.   We'd likely get
smacked by him next time he expects us to get  out of his way.  The
HC stalls are as popular as HC parking spots.   Cheaters don't care
and calling them on it just pisses them off more.  My wife even uses the
HC spots - when people don't care, they REALLY don't care.  (she also
leaves her shoes in the bathroom every afternoon after she gets home.
I've yelled and made a big deal but have switched to using the other
bathroom.  Some people just don't get it, and never will.)   I
just prop my leg up on the shortie urinal when that happens.  No real big
  deal actually.

[QUAD-L] Question for the group- The Throne

2006-05-25 Thread wheelchair

It's everyone's desire to actually sit on a real Throne.  When you see
that 6 ft stall with all the shiny bars, and a Throne that sits higher than the
rest it becomes an attraction that draws people into it web.
I think your point is well made as you greet the person as they leave the
stall with...
"Have A Nice Day!"
