Re: [QUAD-L] Severe back pain question

I also have this and something started happening - a sudden, sharp, not
'knowing when' back spasm that makes my stomach clench inward. It started
happening after I came home from the hospital after being in there 3
weeks. I can go hours without a happening or it can happen several times
in a minute. It is really weird.

In addition, I have had constant around the clock pain where a shunt was
put into my pleural cavity to drain my syrinx (after my symptoms of
posttraumatic syringomyelia began and I had surgery). This began in 1997
and started spreading from the bottom of my neck down my back and around my
right shoulder blade. It is exactly where the challenge goes. I began to
have MRIs regularly but everything was negative showing that the shunt was
fine and still working. I take a narcotic and it does take the edge off the
pain unless it is aggravated by neither me getting hurt somehow or crying.

Things have gotten worse over the last few years now that I don't have
family or numerous caregivers like I did when I was with my husband or
living with family.

I've developed severe back pain over the past year. X-ray, CT scan
indicate arthritis, but anti-inflammatory painkillers, narcotics, have
no effect.

Hey everyone …Does anyone else get unbearable back pain/spasms. Right now I feel like I would rather be in coma than deal with such a high intensity pain. My “our” constant battle between not mot being in a lot pain and struggling is rough for sure.-Danny
