Re: [QUAD-L] Vent ?
Wait - when did you have a trach put in? I feel for you. I remember people on the vent users list complaining that too much air was leaking out from the mask. I think I remember someone going to a dentist, if I'm remembering correctly, and having a mask custom molded to his face. I remember someone saying they switched to nasal pillows. It sounded like it was a constant struggle with the masks. Wish I had better news. You said you were having trouble breathing around the trach. You really need to talk to your doctor about this . Do you have a pulse oximeter? You can get one on Amazon. They are not very expensive. That will allow you to check your O2 levels at any time. People with sleep apnea have a hard time getting used to the mask. Maybe you'll just get used to it with time? Like Jim, I lost the ability to breath instantaneously so there was never a getting used to it phase. Re: [QUAD-L] Vent ?

[QUAD-L] Vent ?
you guys on vents ever get use to it? I have to use one at night, I use a face mask not trach. I just can't get the breathing to match mine good enough. Plus the face mask is just too much. I keep trying different kinds. I dont want the trech, when its not on, just the trech tube in the throat blocks too much air. Greg

[QUAD-L] Vent and Chin control
Is anyone on the list on a vent and also use a chin control? Is there any conflict between the two? Cullen C2/3
Re: [QUAD-L] Vent and Chin control
I knew one quadriplegic, who is no longer with us, who was on a ventilator and used a chin control without any difficulty whatsoever. I will, however, deferred to anyone on a ventilator regarding this question. On Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 1:13 PM, cullenc...@yahoo.com wrote: Is anyone on the list on a vent and also use a chin control? Re: [QUAD-L] Vent and Chin control
I am on a vent and have tried chin control but decided it wasn't going to work for me. It had nothing to do with the ventilator, my problem is that I have very neck movement. It was hurting my jaw and neck muscles. I found sip and puff easier to operate since no head movement is required. [QUAD-L] [VENT-L] LP10 mounting pictures needed
Hi Kimberly, Have you considered the Newport HT-50? http://www.newportnmi.com/HT50.asp http://www.amethyst-research.com/ht50/starthere.html. Dan To: vent [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [VENT-L] LP10 mounting pictures needed Would you all please send me some pictures showing the various ways you've managed to attach a LP10 to your standing wheelchair? I'm having some issues with the LTV and will likely be returning it, so I need to look into my options with the LP10. Because of tracking and weight-distribution concerns, I know DMEs usually prefer keeping a vent of that size close to the floor - but I don't like the small cart-type attachment that Permobil has available because it adds length to the chair. My current vent tray won't work because it will interfere with the chair's positioning functions. I would like to have my LP10 mounted in a way similar to how the LTVs hang on the back of the chair, and then stabilize it with bungee cords. One of you told me a long time ago that you had been able to do that with your chair using a LP10. I forgot who it was but I'm hoping that person will read this again be able to help - but I would appreciate pictures from anyone. Thanks for you time. Kimberly
Re: [QUAD-L] vent users
I am. I have family and outside nurses. My mom, sister, and wife are all nurses. I've also trained old drinking buddies from high school in the past to care for me too.
