Hi Danny,

I haven't but I think Randy answered the question quite nicely and I am
eligible for a new chair so.. since my life has been up in the air
nonstop... that is the reason I have not asked to be evaluated and all that
is needed to get a new chair. I will write to you privately at some point.
Thank you for your suggestion though!

Lori, have you asked Permobile about tires and the need for the air filled
pneumatic type? You would think Permobile OR one of the other power-chair
makers would have some that would fit?   Dan H>**

My spine, with syringomyelia (and even without that dreaded secondary spinal
condition) feels like a rocket  going right up my spine through my neck and
into my head and where my chronic pain is. This is why when this chair was
ordered the Numotion technician and my husband suggested pneumatic tires most
especially because, at that time, I was dealing with a Stage III wound and it
would never have healed with solid tires... I definitely know that now!  My
severely compromised skin has healed but it was not healing when I lived in the
Northeast..
Even with 100% smoother areas to drive my chair and to drive on the roads (here
in southern Arizona) compared to so very many other states ... I can feel the
difference. I thought I could get by with having them order solid tires for my
mid-wheel drive chair but it makes my quality of life drop significantly. I've
only had them on today (after having them delivered and put on yesterday) and
wanted to drive around all of my smooth asphalt pathways and parking lots but I
am suffering afterward. My back got hurt on Wednesday evening by moving wrong
and this has only made it worse.

About a year ago I was told that they no longer provide pneumatic (air) tires
for their Permobile power chairs.  I have a Permobile M 300 and the day before
Thanksgiving I got a flat tire on one of my large tires. Until they could order
new tires thankfully it held air (and if it lost any air I have an air pump)
and then we put Slime on the tire until I could get new tires.

They were finally gotten and put on yesterday but riding on these solid tires
is a NIGHTMARE. I live in an area where most everywhere has smooth walkways
(without having to resort to sidewalks) and I went out today for one of my many
walks and it hurt like hell. Right up my spine and then giving me a headache.
Looks like now I can even enjoy a walk.

So, I was wondering if all of you have solid tires now?

Thanks!

My spine, with syringomyelia (and even without that dreaded secondary

pneumatic tires most especially because, at that time, I was dealing with a
Stage III wound and it would never have healed with solid tires... I
definitely know that now! My severely compromised skin has healed but it
was not healing when I lived in the Northeast..

Even with 100% smoother areas to drive my chair and to drive on the roads
(here in southern Arizona) compared to so very many other states ... I can
feel the difference. I thought I could get by with having them order solid
tires for my mid-wheel drive chair but it makes my quality of life drop

Hi, Lori..I have solid tires on my Rival powerchair, it took me a bit to get
used to them, I just go slower on sidewalks and etc. with cracks in them, The
Air tires are a smoother ride but then you have to worry about flats and low
air. Seems like many providers are using solid type now.  Dan H.***
