Disinfectant pretty much catches everything that affects 68Ks anyway.

Good Virus Program

2002-11-26 Thread Gary
Are there any good virus program that can be updated (i.e. the virus list)
that can be used with LC40 Macs with only 8 MB RAM?

Right now, I'm using Disinfectant 3.7.1 but the updates I believe are
already discontinued.

Thanks.

This has me very curious now as to how these motors work. What are they
called? Are the motors in the fan similar to a direct drive turntable
technology instead of the rotating armature style of motor. Does anyone
know of a web site that could give me more info on the theory and design of
the motors? Good thing I'm not a cat or I'd be dead by now. - LOL

Thanks,
John

Please explain more to me or do you know of a web site I could look up. All
of the fans that I have used on PCs had no electronics in them. If what you
say is true, that means the fan when hooked up properly, it will blow air
down into the vanes of the heatsink, correct? Was I off base on any other
subjects in my reply for help on the fan problem?

OK, I'll try it that way.

I'm impressed that they got this much stuff in a 68K browser, but it's
really a heavy task for an old Mac.

It doesn't freeze all the time, just once in awhile, and since the remote
server hasn't sent any data, there isn't much else to do anyway.

iCab can also freeze, and I am getting too many crashes. Later I'll see if a
single connection helps that.

Another thing I'd like it to do is schedule downloads but not start them,
so I could start them later. I can't seem to set the preferences to
allow 0 downloads. Have to make a feature request.

Actually, that is high on my list for all browsers. Instead of starting a
download (especially for those @#$% redirected links) I would rather they
recorded the final URL for download in batch later on. Going further,
it would be nice if they could save the list of download URLs to an
external file. Then I could take that URL list and schedule them on a
UNIX server for overnight.

Same thing. That's the Lynx port I was referring to.

Links is a far better text browser. You just have to try it to see.
It actually handles a lot of things which would normally require a
graphics browser.

Hi John,

Sorry, but you can not change the direction of fan rotation by reversing
the polarity. It is DC fan indeed, but it isn't "DC motor" - the power
is applied to the small integral or transistor cirquit inside, which
generates pulses for making electromagnetic waves. Attempt to connect
the fan in wrong polarity will burn it out in most cases.

WBR,
Artur
