AV Qurstion

2003-08-20 Thread D. Wakefield (DTP etc!)

Are there any old timers out there who have experience with the video editing
software: AvidVideoShop 3.0? I think it was originally released both as a stand
alone product and also included with some AV style Macs in a promotional give away
pack. The copyright date puts it around both late Quadras and early PCI Macs and I
think it survived the change over, (It seems to run fine on both my 950 and my 7600)
so either of these groups could have as a member, the mentor I seek.

I have been playing with it since none of my machines are fast enough to utilize
iMovie II. My question is: How can you fade up from black to a clip, bring in a
superimposed title with a slow graceful dissolve, let it stand on screen for
appropriate reading time, and gracefully dissolve the title out of the main action?
The key word is gracefully dissolve. It would seem the program would prefer to jump
full strength onto the screen and snap off the screen far too abruptly for my taste.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Don Wakefield

Hi. It's been a while, but I recall that there were these little strings
at the bottom of each track that represented the strength of the track
(video or sound, as against, say, the background color, or another track
below it, or silence, in the case of sound), that you can grab on to
them at a point, it will become like a vertex in a drawing program,
except that you can move it up down vertically withen the space, to
determine how strong that track will be for a certain spave, in the final
mix. So that you could have a black background, say, at first you have
the line all the way at the bottom, then there is a vertex at the
bottom, then the line goes up on a slope, so that you slowly fade in or
out the main track, over a slope, as thus defined, reach a point where
the track is at full strength, as which point there is another vertex at
the top of the allowed area, so it will be at the final mixdown. Hope
this helps

does anyone run ICQ on Quadra? I got version 1.1.2, 1.4.3, 1.5.5 and

But none from all of the above mentioned revisions works. The best results
are with 1.7.2: it installs and runs but still fails to find an existing

Thanks

I used to use ICQ 1.7.2 and then Gerry's ICQ, but the problem was that I
couldn't get it to stay connected to a server for more than 3 minutes. I am
not sure that one can use ICQ 1.7.2 vvery well any more. You mightry try
Gerry's ICQ.

Otherwise I would suggest AIM of which there is an old version that works fine.

Have a search around for NeroMax update.
Its a full version and works on 68k machines.
Toast is another which you might find for next to nothing if you look
hard enough.
Cheers
