Have a search around for NeroMax update.
Its a full version and works on 68k machines.
Toast is another which you might find for next to nothing if you look hard
enough.

Cheers

Re: Files with .sit extension

2003-08-21 Thread Bob C.
Fernando,

Many Macintosh StuffIt (.SIT) files downloaded on a PC will still work on a
Mac, *BUT* you won't be able to double-click on them to open and decode
them.Instead, open StuffIt Expander itself, and then Open the .SIT file
from within.

Nine times out of ten, it works for me! :-)

Quadra questions

2003-08-21 Thread Winston S. Brown
Hi fellow Quads,
Well, I have my Quadra up and running. I installed a new drive, found
RAMDoubler out there and got my email/web stuff loaded. I also found I had
an Apple 300i CD-ROM lying around which works, although it looks crappy
without the sled or the front panel attached.
My question- what next?
I see the Quadra I have (610) has a PDS slot. Since I already have built-in
networking, what other options do I have for this slot?
One more question, is there a way for me to confirm the amount of VRAM I
have?
Thanks,
Winston

Re: Quadra questions

2003-08-21 Thread EasyTask
I too have questions about the Quadra. My 630 is being difficult to open the
case and I am not sure how to proceed with the actual opening of the case
after the front and back are off. Can anyone instruct me?
Secondly, what about a tower 950 Quadra? Anything I can be told will be
appreciated. Is this a desirable unit to have? Where can I find the specs on
this machine. When I read what people say about their Quadra 630 it is always
complementary. What about the Quadra 950?

Hi

Firstly, go to the following. There you'll find a link to the
take-apart service manual for the 630.

[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/index.html
Secondly, don't know the first thing about Quadra 950s -wait until an
expert chimes in - you will always find spec details at LowendMac.com.

The Nubus/PDS was once populated by a pc-compability card, maybe. Look
around and see if any cards for this slot take your fancy. If you find
something it may pay to ask here if it will work on the 610.

The vram is easy, you have 512k and two empty slots, if the slots are
populated you have 1mb, if you plan on anything visual on this mac you
might look for a video card for the empty nubus slot.
