Laser writer 310 problem

I have an apple laserwriter select 310 which is not
recognized by the LC580 running 8.1.  I installed the
driver in the OS installation LS 300, but still cannot
recognized.  The message say something like this: 
"Make sure that the printer is connected" 

But it is connected.  When I check the print monitor,
it says missing extension, is it related to OS8.1, is
this printer supported by this OS?

BTW, I use the serial printer port, with appletalk set
to inactive.

LC580 board to LC575 case?

I have this 3 LC 580 board that I want to slide to
LC575 case, is this thing easy to do?

I know the following:

1. Ill change SCSI drive to IDE
2. All being equal and the same other than #1
3. How do I find the IDE connection for the HD? Do u
know of specific site on how to do this?

Swap LC580 and 575 boards?

Hello Listers,

Is is possible to swap the above motherboards?  I will
slide in the LC580 board to my dead 575 board, change
the HD to IDE, but how can I change cable is the
problem, has anybody on the list been to this
situation? IM a novice, need ur help.  Thanks.

LC 580 monitor problem

1. Every 5 minutes, there seems to be some display
disruption like a sudden power shortage of sort of
like that.  The monitor will blink, but not totally
out. I is directly connected to an AVR, in with an
extension outlet. What seems to be the problem.  

2.  I want to use the monitor of my dead LC575 in my
PPC 6100, is there a way to do it?, short of cutting
the compact in half and connecting the monitor piece
part in my power PC?

LC630 Happy Mac refuses to turn the smiley face off my monitor

I upgraded my LC630 from 7.5.1 to 7.6, at first it
boots fine, but after several boot, the system
freezes,  the happy MAC blue face just stays on the
monitor even with the extensions off. It is not even
displaying a  sad mac face, it seems to be booting and
reading the hd file, but it stays on its "reading
status" with the mac face smiling after 30-60 minutes
so I will just turn of the computer.  Kinda weird. I
already tried the following:

1.  Force boot to a bootable system CD (Holding C),
unsuccesful.

2. Insert a disk tool floppy,  still not succesful.

3. Press the red button inside the motherboard to
re-set, no effect.

I suspect a damage CMOS.

Hope you shed light to this.

PRAM Battery on my 580CD

Hi there!!

I came accross a PRAM battery replacement on my 580CD.
The brand is RAY-O-VAC 4.5v 844.  I know that this
should be 841 or 842 but I tried it anyway and it
works quite well for now.  But I am a bit worried coz
this batt. is over-sized and may damage the PRAM as
well coz of wrong ampere rating.  

Any comments out there!!

PC 100 RAm for Quadra?

I have a quadra 630 and Performa 580CD, and I am
planning to buy a PC 100 sdram upgrade 32 MB each. Can
I possibly use these ram upgrade? BTW, I am ignorant
as to the PC-66 or PC100 specs is for PC only? Pls.

LC 630

I am not a techie and I am planning to acquire a CPU
LC630 but have several questions:

1. Wondering what monitor can I use.  I have a
standard Apple RGB 13 previously connected to an LC II
machine (original package) can I possibly use this as
I only saw the 630 machine in the auction and I am not
sure what this machine can do.

2. Either Strip down the LC630 machine and put the
CD-rom in my performa 580CD (my CD-rom is defective).

2. Use the Harddisk as additional HD in 580CD (is this
possible?

3. Use the mobo as spare to 580CD, is this compatible.
 Would this slide in through my compact Performa
580CD?

Excellent game I found in 68040

[Henry Lintiaco]

I previously found and played an excellent RPG game
for 68040 titled Warcraft 1.  This runs even in my old
Performa 580 CD w/o FPU.  I damaged my CD copy
however, would anyone out there have a spare copy (I
missed this game for 1 year now) I'll pay for the
regular mail cost?
