The 580 is a Quadra so it is on-topic for this list. To turn it on, you must set the power switch in the back to on *and* press the power button on the keyboard. The 580 has the 4.5V square PRAM battery which goes dead every few years (the 6115 you described has a dead 3.6V round battery). The 580 uses an IDE hard drive so large replacement drives are cheap. Open Chooser under the Apple Menu and see if "Color SW 2400" or "Color SW 2500" shows up. If so, your driver is already installed (it ships with most versions of the OS). The 2500 driver is recommended for the 2200, 2400, and 2500 printers. Be sure to turn off AppleTalk or use the modem port for the printer.
