Yes, there's a ribbon inside you can change. The procedure, IIRC, is
described in the service manual. You can probably also find more info in
the Apple online knowledgebase.

There was an extended warranty for this and other problems with the 5200. I
think that one has expired by now, probably didn't cover your 5200/Q630
anyways.

5200 display with a Q630 in it

The monitor in my 5200 case occasionally flickers to a tinge of blue.
Slamming the machine on the side with my size 10 shoe usually fixes it and
returns
it to full colour.

Is there a permanent way of repairing this, so that I don't have to use the
shoe option?
