Whew. Sorry for bringing up this topic again. But I'm relieved to hear
you say this.

I came across a post elsewhere that mentiond the ACARD adapter, and I
instantly became curious. As you can figure out, I'm interested in them
because I have a lot of SCSI only computers and I'd like some extra (75
Gigs) of storage. ;-)

I was able to purchase 5 Sun 411 disk enclosures and I'm planning on
dropping a 75 Gig IBM drive in each of them. I'm a little curious, and
wonder if my Indigo will be able to see the drive and format it. It
should be interesting.

I'll let you know how my experience goes.

I agree.

They have been a reasonable company to do business with ... especially
considering that they are 6,000 miles and numerous time zones away, and
normally only deal with distributors, not end-users.

Very accommodating to my expressed concerns.

I bought the ACARD SCSIDE AEC-7720U 40-pin IDE to 50-pin UltraSCSI
Bridge Adapter. It plugs into the IDE on the back of any ATA hard disk
and bridges it to SCSI. It's neat, fast and not too expensive (£60 inc.
Tax, probably about $60 in the US). I was initially annoyed that they do
not support 68k Macs but all you have to do is ask :).

I just thought I'd add to this thread that ACARD support sent me a .sit
of the 68k ROM Flash utility for Bridge Adapters when I contacted them
about the problem with updating my ACARD SCSIDE Bridge. They are
generally very helpful about anything like that pre- or post-sales. I
heartily recommend them to anyone considering buying any of their
products.
