Try googling for a control panel called Adobe Gamma.

Early (i.e., pre-5) versions of the Adobe Photoshop installer, including
demo versions such as you might find on an old MacAddict CD or something,
install a fully functional Gamma control panel. (Vers. 5 has an Adobe
Gamma panel, which I think is probably PPC-only, since the program is, but
I haven't checked.)

If you don't have a Pshop demo handy, get in touch with me off-list.

And a hearty helping of seasonal cheer to you & all the Quadlist!

Are the monitors identical? There is also the possibility that one monitor
is "shot". If you can, try it on another system and see if it has the same
problems.

try looking through the OSD menus for color (I believe the standard logo is
3 dots in a triangle shape) there should be some way to choose different
temperatures, just make sure they match or are close

Well actually, neither of them are Apple Displays. Come to think of it,
neither of them are Mac displays. They're both relatively new EMC
Multisystems displays. They both look identical except ones 17'' and the
other is 15''. They're both connected to my quadra with adapters.

You can see a pic I just took of my rather AWESOME quadra system here:

http://www.palkasoft.net/quadra.jpg

The dim monitor is the big one. And I know its not the computer's fault
because when that 17'' display was on my G3 it was dim as well, until i
pumped
up the gamma.

are they slightly different monitors? one may have a lower color temp. and
last time I checked old mac monitors didnt offer a way to change color
temp...the only thing to do would be to get a matched set of 2 monitors
