In which case you need to get a newer bracket I think (anyone else know
for sure??). I'm pretty sure your drive mounts at the sides because the
auto-inject floppy had no screw holes in the base to mount to, the
manual-inject does however.

There definitely is an issue with alignment of the disk drives between
the two types in most models if you use the original mounts for the
auto-injects. An 8100 floppy tray shouldn't be too hard to find, it's
worth it just to make sure your floppy drive doesn't die, as the
auto-inject units have a nasty habit of doing.

The barcket is plastic and looks like a tray with one
end open. There are four screw holes are on the sides
to hold the drive in. There are no holes on the
bottom.

My 840av has a plastic 'sled' that the manual inject drive attaches to
via the screw mount points in the BASe of the drive. I also know from
other machines I have worked on that swapping the floppy from auto- to
manual-inject will lead to alignment problems. The 8100 sled and floppy
should fit the 800 and 840av. Can you describe what the auto-inject
bracket looks like?

Quarda 840av/ Power Mac 8100 Floppy Bracket

2002-10-05 Thread John Kocijanski

Hello. I have a Quadra 840av with a auto inject
floppy in it. I wanted to put a manual inject floppy
in it and thought all I needed was a bezel from a
Power Mac 8100 to do this. I wanted the auto inject
floppy for another machine. The bezel fits fine but
the drive sits too low in the 840 auto inject bracket
for a floppy to eject properly. Does the 8100 have a
different floppy bracket than the 840? If so will
that bracket fit in the 840? Thanks.
