Re: Klez Worm

2002-09-04 Thread Scott Holder

This is part of the evil of the Klez worm and some others. They do
indeed spoof the from address. There's no way for the Klez worm to send
from your computer, it just looks like it.

Yet another reason to use a Mac ;) You're lucky to be able to use them
at work. Here we practically bow down to the almighty Bill Gates.
*Everything* is Microsoft (just check my X-mailer...)

I'm starting to freak out here - have I been infected by a virus, or is
someone spoof my email address?

I use a Mac at home and at work to read my emails.

Re: Klez Worm

2002-09-04 Thread Keith Johnson

I belong to one non Mac-related elist on yahoo groups. Lately I have been
bombarded by emails from 3 different unknown sources, which the source
points to a us.west ISP. The emails all contain odd attachments, and most
of the time there is a note attached that the attachments contained a virus
and could not be sent.

Not long afterwards, I received bounced emails from my ISP saying that
attachments couldn't be sent, etc. I never sent any of the emails and I
certainly wouldn't send random files (i.e. font files) to unknown
recipients.

I also received an email from one of the members on the yahoo group saying
that he received an email from me with an attachment. I never sent him any
email.

I'm starting to freak out here - have I been infected by a virus, or is
someone spoof my email address?

I use a Mac at home and at work to read my emails.

Virtual PC, perhaps? But I can't think of having decent performance on a
Quadra running VPC...

Unless the "main computer" is a PC?

Try a virus checker

Cant and wont.

What are Klez symptoms. Klez needs to be handled properly before it
reaches you.

Why? most virus checkers spot infection, with differing success of
removing the virus, corporate versions like the one my isp run remove
the threat before I see it. They were slow on the up take thou.
At home Norton's scans everything on port 110 no matter what machine its
sent from or received by

Your mistaken as usual and how about a screen shot of this 68k running
8.5 without problems or mods. I know you've only been asked half a dozen
times in the last month. Do you have a quadra that runs a os made for a 68k machine?

Or screw up your Windows partition if you run Windows on a Mac and use
it to get your e-mail. (VPC)
