Isn't the fiesta tank a side mounted sender?

I have a solution this time, not a question.

I found a sender on ETB gauges that covers the 260 to 20 Ohms range. It
goes well with the ETB gauge of course, but it will drive the Fiesta Mk2
gauge. It gives a full max & min although it is not linear in between.
That means the gauge indicates lower that the actual tank contents for much
of the range with a quick fall initially. So it's on the safe side. But
it's great to have a working gauge again that will keep me out of trouble
and the price is right at £20. Better than ebay for an old Mk 2 sender.

The ETB sender is top mount and you cut a 40mm hole and six mounting holes for
it. So it is independent of the fuel pipes and their position.

Remember that most of top of the tank fits flush to the floor under the rear
seat.
The existing Ford sensor sits in the only recessed section of the tank and
it also has the fuel outlet and return as part of the sensor.

[Quantum Owners] SATOC BBQ / Monthly Meet

2012-08-06 Thread Chris Young
hi guys

As I emailed last month, the tiger owners have a monthly meet in
Windlesham, to which I have been going to for some time with the
Xtreme.

We are trying to widen the group if anyone would like to come along.

29th August is the evening. However this month a BBQ is being
organised that is being done on a pre booked arrangement. The chap
organising is happy for others to put there name down, but you are
expected to turn up and pay if you do! if you know what I mean, no one
wants to be out of pocket. This is a family eve, so other halfs and
children welcome if you like. My littlun will be in bed so just me
turning up.

If you would like to come along anyway for a chat and a drink then
feel free to just turn up, but if you do want to BBQ. then please
update the below post and say that you are from the Q forum.

cheers

Calvin,
The 2+2 is a standard XR2 exhaust, sometimes it has to be bent
slightly near the gearchange for clearance purposes. It is probably
worth keeping an eye out for a stainless Scorpion or Magnex if you are
going to keep the car.

RE: [Quantum Owners] exhaust for 2+2

2012-08-06 Thread Sonic H
Hi Calvin,

Removing the manifold is straight forward, as I took mine off to weld it. Mine
is a manifold and downpipe combi (2 inches compared to XR2 1 3/4 inches) I
unbolted it from the system and manifold bolts and removed the starter motor
and it drops straight down. Should be easier it if the original 2 piece
manifold and downpipe.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Quantum Owners] exhaust for 2+2

2012-08-06 Thread Gary
Totally unsure if the XR2 is similar to the 1.1 mk1 but i had issues
with basic downpipes splitting within a few months below the manifold clamp.
shopping around i found one the same as my rusted out unit that had a
strength collar just down from the manifold of 3 or 4 inches held the
manifold clamp captive.

Worth a consideration.

RE: [Quantum Owners] exhaust for 2+2

2012-08-06 Thread Sonic H
The manifold and exhaust system move around with the engine running and this
cases the cracking, the solution I think is too weld supportive brackets to the
side of the manifold. This was told to me by a ford expert who runs a ford
spares shop.
