[Quantum Owners] Re: what rubber for xtreme
Apologies if this post appears twice but for some reason when I post from the phone, it doesn't seem to work! I have done a lot of tyre investigation both on track and road and have formed the following conclusions. Note that I am stingy and don't believe in paying a lot for track tyres, when you have justy as much fun on road tyres ans they last a lot longer. For road use, the best tyre I have found is the Toyo Proxes T1R, which is a decent price and works well in the wet too. The downside of these is that on track days the narrow tread block results in overheating and rapid wear and I quickly shred them. I therefore use the Yokohama parada spec 2 per Steve above, I find they are slightly less grippy than the Toyo, when cold and on the road, but on the track are far more consistent, grip very well, and due to the wider tread block design last a lot longer, the down side I have found is the wet grip isn't brilliant, but as my car is primarily a fine weather car that doesn't bother me. I agree with Ian's comments about the track tyres, being the best, the R1R is probably grippier, but they are softer and so life is less in theory, but I have never run to the expense so don't have the experience. Hope this is useful Nigel PS Can anyone explain why when I post from the phone it seems to work, but the post doesnt appear? -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Quantum Owners Group group.
