[Quantum Owners] Headlight flap motors

2013-11-18 Thread Eddie
Hi All

Do any of you have problems with your headlight motor inserts that were sold by
Quantum.
I am talking about the metal disc inside that you had to instal to reduce the
distance travelled by the motor to get the flaps to operate through the
required moving distance.
I can now get these Discs made.
If you are interested, let me know as I need to get 10 made to get them down to
£5.50 each.

[Quantum Owners] 2+2 Identifying caliper

2013-11-18 Thread andrew . rogals
I have a Quantum 2+2 which I am converting to run as an electric vehicle.
All running well (lithium batteries and motor in), but having problem
identifying the appropriate brake calipers (I have to replace one as it is
damaged). I was told the kit was based on a 1.4 1988/89 Fiesta, but
standard Fiesta calipers are too small. Can't find any identifying numbers
on caliper, Ford dealers are mystified. Any ideas how I might go about
finding a replacement caliper? Is there a 'standard' upgrade which might
have been used?
Not very advanced on the mechanical side, so any suggestion, no matter how
basic, is welcome.
Thanks for your help, Andrew

[Quantum Owners] Re: 2+2 Identifying caliper

2013-11-18 Thread Dave English
Hi Andrew.
After a quick look around, the 1.4 Mk2 Fiesta appears to have the solid
brake discs fitted as standard. If the caliper you are trying doesn't get
across the disc and pads, someone may have upgraded to the ventilated discs
used on the Mk2 XR2 as this is a reasonably simple upgrade. (Also the XR2
discs have a slightly larger diameter).
To help work out if this is the case here's a couple of links to a
company's website I have used for diagrams and measurements before. I
cannot make any recommendations for the company because I have only used
the site for information.

Mk2 1.4 front brake info:
http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en-uk/d6404.html
Mk2 XR2 front brake info:
http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en-uk/d6350.html

These pages have drawings and dimensions of the discs and photos and
dimensions of the calipers.

If the parts you have match up with the XR2 measurements, you have XR2
brakes (1983-1989 should cover the year)
Of course, someone may have gone to town on upgrading the brakes and you
may have something completely different!

Hope this helps

Dave English
