[Quantum Owners] Where's the Quantum gone?

2017-11-13 Thread Susan and Martin Scott
I wonder if it's gone to anyone in the club? Up until recently it was about 1/2
mile from us (Felmingham Norfolk), and I noticed its absence last week.
Previously owned by Calvin Whale, it was a white saloon and hadn't moved in the
14 years we've lived here - crikey time flies! I hope it didn't go to the
breakers - I last saw Calvin about a year ago, and he was adamant that it was
worth good money (he said about 2k, based on his build costs I think?), so
maybe its found a good home? I'm curious to know, but I'm reluctant to just
knock on his door.especially if I find it has been crushed!

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Curborough 2017 - Promoting Quantum

2017-11-13 Thread Susan and Martin Scott
Unfortunately I wasn't there, but if somebody who did attend could write it
they can send it directly with some photos to a...@performancepublishing.co.uk
or I'm happy to forward to him if required. I think the deadline for
publication is about 27th Nov.
Regards, Martin

That's a great idea. Do you want to write the article?

Members,
Is anyone doing a report for the Quantum Mechanics? If they are, a
valuable way of promoting the QOC will be to also send a copy of the report

If we can get the report published, can we also give a link to the club for
prospective members.

Yes, it's been a long time, but.

I gave up trying all the different things mentioned by the many kind and
helpful replies to my question but nothing seemed to work. I took the car to a
local garage and explained the problem. All the mechanics there had a go until
about three weeks after they had the car they decided it must be the
distributor. They couldn't source a new one but found a used one and IT
WORKS!!! Yay, happy bunny me!! The car is running fine and in the next couple
of days they will give it a full service and MOT and I'll be good to go.

See y'all at Stoneleigh!

My 2+2 has a 1.6 CVH engine from an XR2. Intermittently it will stop and
usually start again running normally. A bit annoying! I've been told by a Ford
trained mechanic that the distributor in the Fiesta was unreliable and there
were many failures even in cars less than three years old. Does anyone know of
this? From one website I discovered that the correct distributor is a Bosch
type 0 237 521 019 but I can't find one of those. The Haines manual says Bosch
or Lucas but gives no part number.. Nearest I found was type 0 237 601 001,
Ford part number 84SF 12100 FA.

Has anyone had a distributor problem with this engine, and what type did they
use to replace it? It might be that the two types I've mentioned are
effectively identical or there might be sufficient difference that while the
one I can find will physically fit it won't work properly or even at all!
Advice please so I can get going again!

Many thanks, Mike
