[Quantum Owners] Re: 2+2 boot lid hinge covers
Hi Rolf As far as I am aware, all the hinge covers come from the Escort Mk 3/4 cabriolet. That's the one that these replicate. Okay - I've just looked through my Coupe build manual (4th edition) and there is a suggested modification to the hinge cover. The same modification could be done on the 3D printed set for a Coupe. When I built my 2+2, the manual hadn't been finished and my standard hinge covers just clipped straight on without any changes. I now have a 2+2 manual (1st edition) and there is no mention of the modification suggested for the Coupe. I think it had more to do with space between the hinge and the bodywork, not a problem on the 2+2. So is this 3D printed one a Fiesta set, or a Quantum set, the latter being a bit more spaced around the hingepin? I remember, on the A40 between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield! Commented to my better half that the kit-car community are very friendly! :-) Sorry to have missed you Robert, we got held up and were a little late leaving home. Hope your car gathered some interest from the British Classic and American car club members, ours did - especially from a guy who was a former XR2 owner, as mentioned he recognised the interior immediately! He was the guy taking photos, part of the London Outlaws group. I hope you didn't have to travel too far to meet no other Quantum owners after I mentioned the event, we are in Uxbridge so quite local really. Can't get to the next one which should be 14th August as we are away, not sure if there is one in September. The annual Uxbridge Car Show took place today and I didn't go to that, too busy in the garden. Something to consider next year when I've really tidied the 2+2 up. I did take it there 9 or 10 years ago and parked it up in the kit-car area - a lone Quantum in a sea of other marques! Again, sorry to have missed you Robert.
