[Quantum Owners] Re: K and M air filter

2018-07-30 Thread 'Glyn Scoltock' via Quantum Owners Group
Hello Everyone

Thank you for your replies.
I think my last answer to you could not have got through. While I would
like a bit more go what I am after is efficiency and reliability. Once
fitted it would never need replacement only cleaning and re-oiling.
Chris G , you said that you noticed smoother running which cannot be bad
thing in itself. I have spent a long time looking the website and have even
attempted correspondence with K ad N but it appears to have come to a stop.
I am still waiting to hear back from them after sending the measurements
and other details.

RE: [Quantum Owners] Electric door lock tantrums

2018-07-30 Thread 'Chris Fairlie' via Quantum Owners Group
Julian

I’m not too familiar with H4/MK3 Fiesta electric, but I have had issues with
central locking.

It sounds like the contacts in one of the motor/lock mechanisms have got
faulty. Given that you have disconnected the driver’s side mechanism, perhaps
there is a fault with the passenger side mechanism. You can lock/unlock many
cars at either front door lock. When you operate the key in the lock it
activates some contact that apply voltage to the other locks. It sounds like
the contacts in one of your locks are working correctly. So I’d try
disconnecting the passenger side and reconnecting the driver’s side lock. If
that doesn’t solve the issue I’d suspect the control relay.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Electric door lock tantrums

Hi

My H4 has developed a problem which I cannot immediately fathom. The car has
electric windows from the original donor but it also has an aftermarket
security system. However I suspect the latter is not responsible as the problem
seems entirely independent of the security system status.

Basically the locking just keeps locking and unlocking, stopping occasionally.
It does this when static or on the move. It appears to have no effect on any
other system - the alarm which triggers the locks is not itself being triggered
to set/unset.

I took the door card off the driver's door wondering if I had accidentally
unhitched something. I unplugged the cabling to the mechanism and the fault
remains as it was, constantly locking and unlocking but sometimes stopping for
a while. So clearly the fault is not in the driver's door lock module.

I've left the car without power for now - it took me a while to figure out how
to set things so I could still get in after I'd closed everything without power
connected! But that appears to be OK.

Anyway, if anyone knows what might be causing this, I'd appreciate any words of
wisdom.

Regards

Re: [Quantum Owners] K and M air filter

2018-07-30 Thread chris.quant via Quantum Owners Group
When my Q was running, I had a K + N air filter.

It did run alot smoother over a cheap paper filter.

I’m currently running a Ford Fusion (boring-as-hell type of car) and have
fitted a K + N to that. I noticed the engine runs smoother now.

A quick search on their website comes up with this.

If you have a well- maintained standard filter that's probably the best you can
get in terms of filtration/intake noise otherwise Ford would fit something
else. Any performance gain (if that's what's expected?) is likely to not be
measureable.
