I, just to be awkward would rather not have the recovery included as i'm
with the AA and never use the recovery from the insurance company.
The recovery included with the insurance only recovers you to a place of
repair doesn't it , whereas i always want the car recovered home so i can
fix it myself.

I have had the same experience of the car being recovered either to home or to
my parents house. The only thing I would add is that it appears to be purely a
recovery service. On three separate occasions I have had to call on them and
each time there has been no interest in investigating the fault. On one
occasion
it was nothing more serious than a loose alternator tensioning bracket. 2

fix or 20 mins to load/unload the car. The fourth occasion was an electrical

2011-03-31 Thread Susan and Martin Scott
From my experiences with the AA on 2 occassions I had head gasket failure
(different cars) they insisted on sending someone to try to fix it before a
recovery truck even though I told them it was clearly head gasket failure. On
the second occassion the situation looked dangerous to me (re traffic), but he
still wanted to try - he only believed it when he got drenched by the water
coming out of the rad! Better than the RAC though - My wife's car had an
attempted theft, and when they were unsuccessful in getting it started the
kids smashed 5 of the windows. The RAC came, said it would be written off
and wanted to just leave it there (where it probably would have been set on
fire) The Police wanted her to drive it! It was only when she pointed out her
driving glasses had also been stolen that they relented and rescued it back to
home. Needless to say we didn't renew our RAC membership.

Dave,
The QOC insurance rate has gone up and I would expect you to be paying about
£185, which is the rate for unlimited mileage if you're over 25.

There is information about the club insurance under the About the QOC link
on the club's website. This guidance prices there have been updated
recently to reflect the recent rises.

Also remember that the cheapest quote isn't necessarily the best. We've had
very good reports within the club from those unfortunate enough to claim on
their insurance. Other companies haven't necessarily had the same positive
feedback.

Phoned FJ today and the 'helpful' voice at the other end said that the
amount was correct, it had gone up over the year. I did mention that 3
weeks ago a club member had paid £185, so it must have gone up 13% in
3 weeks, but it didn't help.
She did offer to put me through to renewals if I had another quote and
they would 'see what they could do'.
Mentioning that it was supposed to be a fixed rate for QOC club
members had no effect (apart from another offer to put me through to
renewals if I had another quote) so I gave up.
I'll try sending an e-mail, that may get to someone who isn't reading
a script, but my next job is to phone around for some other quotes.
Andy Heaton, if you see this, it may be worth getting in touch with FJ
and finding out what the current prices are. If £202.46 is correct and
in among the lowest quotes, I'll stay with it.
Dave

Hi Dave,

Well spotted. I never liked it, but it did tow its replacement back
home which was a 'QUANTUM'.

Hi Dave,

My renewal premium in January with Footman James was around £192. I
ended up going elsewhere as I got a better quote from another company.

My daughter was quoted just over £180 three weeks ago!

Hi Steve.

Thanks for the info, looks like I may have to phone them and check up.
I'll update here when I get an answer.

Also I had a quick look at your webpage Steve, and have a quick
question. Is that a Ginetta G26 towing your donor in the first
picture?
