[Quantum Owners] Re: Xtreme in my workshop!

2013-07-25 Thread The Sports Car Shop
Have to say I would quite happily own one. I like the idea of the V8, will
see if i can see anything on the website, which engine is used?

The yellow car is progressing well in the workshop in Sandhurst, i've
completed all the gelcoat repairs and extra stripping of body fittings, the
car went into primer yesterday evening.

One critiscism of the car that needs addressing is that the clutch pedal
throw is way too long. I'm guessing there is a Ford type 9 gearbox in there
with a cable? Seems lke it needs a concentric release bearing fitted with a
nice hydraulic pedal.

Cheers Peter

expecting a stainless chassis tub, Very nice mouldings too, took the hit
 rather well.
What a nice little car Cheers Peter

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Xtreme in my workshop!

2013-07-25 Thread Chris Young
mine has a rover v8.. I think the only one. Chris F has the credit for
getting it built.. I have just tarted it up and am going to turn it to some
sort of EFI with motorbike throttle bodies (when family life permits!)

I too found the clutch pedal a bit bonkers. Up there is a sierra pedal box
essentially, so relies on the sierra yellow curved bit. I changed mine to a
mondeo one I think which has a larger radius, thus more cable move for less
pedal movement.

Mark at quantaum cars does still promote the v8 option, but I am not sure
which one and or how many plans he has.. the monoque had to get modified to
take the v8, well really the bell housing and lt77 gear box.

If i hadn't of seen the v8 one up for grabs I was going to try and use the
type 9 with an adaptor bell housing to rv8.. but never got that far. well I
say that, I did buy a cheap rubbish rv8 and did put it all together and
have a trial fit to see what would go and there I saw that the front cross
members would need modifying or the tunnel etc.
