Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: which way does the engine come out?
I don't think so, the end cover on the gearbox sticks out further below the chassis rail. Maybe if the engine bay was completely empty and you can turn the engine at an angle. Strictly speaking the height of garage needed to get the engine out from above should be the same as that from below, you still need the same clearance between the 2 parts. I've done it in a single garage with a engine hoist (not crane) attached to a 6x2 wood beam on the garage roof. [Quantum Owners] Re: which way does the engine come out?
You'd have to tilt it a long way to get it past the battery tray, though you could probably do it with the tray removed - unfortunately it's welded in, and quite severely, too! http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t31/nailed_barnacle/Quantum%20engine/P7030088.jpg With an engine hoist and a two-post lift it's a doddle - the crane takes the strain and lowers to a trolley, the lift takes the frame away, then the trolley pulls out. You need to lift something like two feet to clear the engine and trolley.
