Hi all.

As promised some notes about the polycarbonate windows that i have fitted to
the side screens on the Xtream. There was lots of interest at Stoneleigh.

I have removed the orginal side screen tops and replaced them with
Polycarbonate so there is an unrestricted view out of the side. i have to be
honest it is great like driving with out the doors on. The view is excellent.

The material i used is 4mm Lexan polycarbonate with margard scratch protection.
The company i found to make them are ACW motor sport in Nailsea near bristol
(no presonal interest). i saw them at a mini show a couple of years ago. It has
taken this long to get organised. Tony is the man at ACW i have since spoken to
him so he will be aware if you call about Quantum Xtream doors. Contact details
are below he is very helpful and has had kit cars in the past.

I made templates out of hardboard and ACW cut them and polished the edges, they
will drill the fixing holes if you want or leave you to do them. The cost was
£100 but there are various options which can make it cheaper or more expensive.
You can have them with out the scratch protection and they can also get 5mm if
you want  them thicker. They can also get tinted if that is what you want. Call
Tony to discuss it.

I will write an article for QM with all the details but this should get most
people going. I have only had them on a couple of weeks but love the solution
already. Be aware i have had to fit a bar to strengthen the section from the
fibreglass door bottom section to the hinge on the frame as with the 4mm it was
bending more than i liked. I will be fitting a full length bar which will
finish it off and look better. I like all kit car items it is still work in
progress.

If you have any questions you can give me a shout on here or my details are in
QM i am the treasurer.

Cheers Paul.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Xtream clear windows

2013-05-13 Thread Ian Harrison
Those screens looked really good!

When my side screens got difficult to see through, I used some Renovo Window
Polish to bring them back to life. It's not cheap stuff, but it really works
and goes quite a long way.
