[qubes-users] changing icons for specific app VMs
I use custom launchers on a bottom panel for some apps, kinda like the os x dock. Some appvms are dedicated to a certain site, so id like those icons to make it easy. How would one change the app icon that would go into that? Or would it be easier to make an alias app with its own icon? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. I did some tinkering with the USB to get my USB keyboard and mouse working again after setting up sys-usb the default way (having missed the warning). I think I broke something along the way. It worked for a while with some warnings messages during boot. But finally, one of the updates broke it completely, and I couldn't boot without a kernel panic. I just re-installed and did the USB setup right the second time around. Didn't lose anything essential thanks to having moved the appvms to a separate drive (though it took me a little while to figure out how to restore them). I think this could only be a problem if the SSD actually physically connected to the USB bus in the M.2 connector. However, I'd expect most SSDs to only be wired up to the PCIe bus. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] R4.0, Ubuntu, and Qt4/Qt5, and Salt
Hey, I am playing with R4.0 rc2, and with a Kubuntu Zesty VM in it. My idea is to use this Kubuntu VM as a stepping stone (my current main system is Kubuntu Zesty), letting me move to Qubes gradually, by mounting /home in the VM. This will let me have access to all my files and setup while I move it between the VMs. So far so good, there were some hurdles -- for instance, gpg-agent refuses to work properly with pinentry unless I manually start gpg-agent with a shell: gpg-agent --daemon /bin/bash Two issues I was thus far not able to debug, though: One annoying thing that happens is that while Qt4 applications in the VM are using my color, icon, and widget settings (as defined in Kubuntu $HOME), Qt5 uses a weird mix of *some* parts of the color scheme, and *some* of the icons. This is not only annoying and an eye-sore, but also the particular mix of colors makes some parts of the interface simply unusable. Tried switching the color settings, widget theme, tried figuring out if I am missing any (KDE/Qt theme/icon/etc) packages, but am at a loss. I am starting to think Qubes somehow messes with the Qt style settings. Anybody any ideas? Also, started playing with Salt, wrote a nice sls file to install all the stuff I need in the Kubuntu VM, but... each time I run it I get an "ERROR". I am guessing this is related to the less-than-stellar support for Ubuntu templates in Qubes R4.0. I'd love to know where I could start digging to perhaps help fix that. [qubes-users] HCL - Acer V3-571G
VTX present and working VTD missing TPM missing SLAT missing Bios legacy: works UEFI mode: more or less works: follow the common fixes in the qubes docs; i have installed it on external usb hdd but if you boot once without the hdd inserted the "qubes" boot option will disappear and you will not be able to boot it again; better to use legacy bios. Networking Ethernet works only after you assign to the net vm the sd card reader (they share the same pci id). if you autocreate default/typical vm during install it will throw error since it cant start net vm; ignore the error and assign card reader to the net vm than everything will work. audio works video works external monitor (hdmi) works S3/sleep works power off/on works USB works Networking WiFi works Windows 7 (HVM) works sd card reader not tested, probably works but must be assigned to the net vm. if you have any question let me know. The Install process fallback to text mode install (HD630 not supported ?). It doesn't work because LUKS encryption not available in this mode (anaconda issue ?). Qubes 4.0 RC2 => OK (During Installation the mouse doesn't work, but it's OK afterward.) UEFI OK. Dual screen OK.Linux HVM work properly.QubeUSB disabled. Sometime Qubes do not turn off the computer at the end of the shutdown sequence. Windows 7 without SP Installed successfully.I had problem during my first try when I update SP1 KB97932 -> update Fix KB3020369 -> Commodity Update KB3125574. It failed to start, afterward (Windows startup in recovery, then in normal Mode, Recovery, Start again). During second try, I skip the cumulative Pack and I let Windows Update do its job. => It seams to works. The Windows Tools are not avaiable at the moment. I have install Xen PV.
