yeah.
Alternatively, look into making a kickstart file, some hints here ->

Did not try GPU passthrough, well at least all settings are default.

Also using duel screens. Had issues with that on a old low power half hight HD 47XX, no isseus using gtx 970. Will be using a gtx 570ti  on 4.0.1 rc1 soon if all goes well.

Qubes 3.2 causes almost unusable mouse issue (cursor jumps to left screen edges on each click before input registers with GUI element i am using) but installs fine.

Hi Ryan

Are you using Xfce? (The default desktop environment in Qubes)

Had you made any changes to the menu system?
Can you check the contents of /etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu to
make sure you still have a Menu item for System Tools. If you're not
sure just post the contents here.

There was a problem in the past with .desktop files disappearing.
can you make sure that you have .desktop files in
/usr/share/applications ?

2018-11-08 Thread pieter lems
I don't mean this in a bad way but isn't 4.0.1 a testing release? if you
are using qubes for important things you should stick with 4.0 as of now.
(it's also mentioned in the release notes) Devs are no wizards. :)
I hope you get it working.

[qubes-users] Qubes 4.0.1-rc1 and Yubikey screen lock

2018-11-08 Thread CJ
I got it to work by changing the yubikey.rules line. I changed

ENV{ID_SECURITY_TOKEN}==1

to a single equals:

ENV{ID_SECURITY_TOKEN}=1

and re-ran

 sudo /rw/config/rc.local

Pulling the Yubikey now locks the screen. Should I submit it as a bug? Or just
a documentation pull request to update the command?

[qubes-users] ERROR: Tor Bootstrap Result:

2018-11-08 Thread William Fisher
I've even tried to unistall and reinstall Whonix using"How to install the
stable version of Qubes-Whonix 14 but still get:

ERROR: Tor Bootstrap Result:
Whonixcheck gave up waiting.
Tor Circuit: not established
Bootstrapping 85 % done. Tor reports: WARN BOOTSTRAP PROGRESS=85
TAG=handshake_or SUMMARY="Finishing handshake with first hop"
WARNING="Connection refused" REASON=CONNECTREFUSED COUNT=5
RECOMMENDATION=ignore HOSTID="D64366987CB39F61AD21DBCF8142FA0577B92811"
HOSTADDR="37.221.162.226:9001"
Possible issues:
- Is the host's internet connection working?
- Whonix-Gateway will need a few moments for bootstrapping the Tor network.
- Do you live in a censored area?
- Tor needs a reasonable correct time to be able to connect.
Recommendations:
Please check, that the time inside this virtual machine (09/11/2018 07:52:06)
is correct. (A clock that is slow or fast up to 30 minutes is okay.) If the
time is incorrect, please manually fix it.

1. Open a terminal. (dom0 -> Start Menu -> ServiceVM: sys-whonix -> Terminal)
2. Set the clock to the correct time in UTC. (Example.)
sudo date --set "2018-11-09 02:30:00"
1)
Shut down Whonix and try to get the Tor Browser Bundle from
https://www.torproject.org working on your host. If you cannot get the Tor
Browser Bundle to work, you will most certainly not get Whonix to work either.
The Tor Browser Bundle is great for testing if you live in a censored area. If
you need bridges for the Tor Browser Bundle, you will need them for Whonix as
well.
2)
Try again: dom0 -> Start Menu -> ServiceVM: sys-whonix -> Whonix Check
or in Terminal: whonixcheck
or in Terminal with debugging: whonixcheck --debug --verbose
3)
Use arm, connection page two, to see if Tor is connected:
dom0 -> Start Menu -> ServiceVM: sys-whonix -> Arm
or in Terminal: arm

What is going on? I even updated from Qubes 3.2 to 4.0 with NO TOR browser.
 (Whonix)

I'm totally lost and very frustrated with Qubes after days of trying and
updating and reinstalling...

Re: [qubes-users] Qubes menu failing. Come on guys

2018-11-08 Thread cooloutac
I just lost all my system menus. It might have been from me trying to delete
and reinstall a template. not sure what happened as I was having difficulties
updating whonix-gw and took drastic measures lmao

But an easy fix to add all the menu items back was to enter the command found
here posted by jpouellet:

sudo qubes-dom0-update --action=reinstall $(rpm -qal | grep
/usr/share/applications | xargs rpm -qf | sort -u)

https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/2952

I'm having the same exact problem right now. Tried uninstalling and
reinstalling template as well. But only after I already couldn't open up any
applications in whonix-gw, after seeing that the update window from
qubes-manager wasn't loading anymore.

In the past this was a debian thing to do with the languages changing and
having to change it back to english.

But the issue is I can't bring up any program in the gui for whonix-gw, can't
bring up a terminal or update it.

I didn't copy anything from dom0. didn't do any changes to system at all.
whonix-gw just all of a sudden will not load any applications from menu, or
qvm-run. nothing happens. and its not updating.

I think it happened from before the update for me. Losing all the system menu
items happened from me deleting something myself I believe lol. but the not
being able to fully load or an app to the gui from whonix-gw happened on its
own.
