Re: [qubes-users] Re: qubes-update-gui always has "updates available for 1 qubes"
also it was a cloned repo that I had manually upgraded. wouldn't know there was no error. it would show it updating. unless I did the -v to see the problems. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Re: qubes-update-gui always has "updates available for 1 qubes"
I don't think so in my case. regarding google chrome repo it was because I was forcing https over tor at the time. and when it got updated it would keep reverting it back to http and then failing. I would have to keep changing it back to https for it to update and get rid of arrow. In case of the metadata error. It was cause I had upgraded the template manually to new version and it must of cause some problems. For default repos this shouldn't happen anymore like in old Qubes versions. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Re: qubes-update-gui always has "updates available for 1 qubes"
when you update do -vv to show full information on update progress and see if there is any errors. This sometimes happens to me if google chrome repo doesn't update for example. Last time I did this it showed metadata erros. so a sudo dnf clean metadata fixed issue. This may be related to my observation that when dnf / apt cache are too large, automatic updates fail, without users being notified about the reason of the non-update ? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Re: Qubes 4.0 Cannot change desktop background
ya most likely can be considered a security feature. Joanna has mentioned herself in the past wallpaper images can compromise a system. Maybe not purposely disabled but not worth to support either lol. Defeats purpose of using Qubes with a dom0. The only thing you really should be doing in dom0 is using qubes-dom0-update to upgrade and install available qubes packages if needed. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: Fedora 29 HiDPI Resolution
Today I have had another problem which I think indicates that the problem is not only in Fedora 29, it could me in Qubes too. So, I today I had a problem with encoding when I tried to open one of my .txt file in 'gedit' editor. To solve this problem I installed 'dconf-editor' package and started to configure it in Fedora 29 Template: I gone through 'org - gnome - gedit - preferences - encodings' in 'dconf-editor' and set - ['UTF-8', 'WINDOWS-1251', 'CURRENT', 'ISO-8859-15', 'UTF-16'] Problem was been solved but guess what happened next? :) This changes applies only in Template, because when I started AppVM based on Fedora 29 I repeat this sets in 'dconf-editor'. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Issue with Qubes and Windows Tools
Hi Everyone I just set up a Windows 7 Pro x64 VM and installed Qubes Windows Tools successfully, including the disk driver. I did Windows installation with this help: https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/windows-vm/ And installation von QWT with this help: https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/windows-tools/ As I mentioned earlier, Windows and the QWT are working. I had 2 bluescreens at the first 2 boots of the windows vm, but as I read this is normal. Now the Windows VM is working fine. I am running the following versions: qubes-core.dom0: 4.0.38-1.fc25 qubes-windows-tools: 4.0.1-3 windows 7 pro, latest updates Now, what is my issue: Everytime I open a File from my windows vm in another vm or disposable vm, the vm is "hidden" behind the windows vm and I can not access it. For instance: I select a logfile in windows -> send to -> Edit in VM. Then I see the Qubes Status in the top right corner. The selected VM is starting and some seconds later started. But the VM is not accessible. I can see the vm running in Qubes Manager but I can not "select" it and pull it to the front or something like that. It is like the vm is running in the tray but I cannot maximize it. But, as soon as I shutdown my Windows vm, and its only working if I stop the vm fully, the selected vm pops up and shows the selected file. If I do this with a disposable vm, the vm gets shutdown as well, as soon as I shutdown windows. Can anyone of you help me with this issue? As a workaroud I can open the files in selected vms and shutdown windows, but it is not really practical. Especially if I want to open something in a disposable vm, because I cannot grab the disposable vm before its stopping as well. Thanks in advance!
