[qubes-users] removing secondary storage device
The HDD i installed via https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/secondary-storage/ started making noise. man qvm-pool --remove has a FIXME note. It is still 'bringing folders up to data', had .cache/thunderbird deleted but that did not help either. It starts and activity manager shows it syncing but numbers either freeze or move super slow. No difference in safe-mode / addons disabled. You were right, after deleting it from the kernel i see dmesg messages and slight different UI for password. ESC key switches back and forth. My guess, it might be driver related. I do run qubes with a rx 480 since my mobo/cpu does not have intel grafix. My xen.xfg, options=loglvl=all dom0_mem=min:1024M dom0_mem=max:4096M iommu=no-igfx ucode =scan smt=off pci=noaer (Since install, there have been countless pcieport :00:01.1: AER: Corrected error received: :00:01.1 messages with PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected from the rx 480 and tried to stop displaying them with pci=noaer but the option has not helped yet.) We used to be able to switch to console when typing password or after to see messages, now just black screen. [qubes-users] Re: Whonix 15 has been released
I think the whonix upgrade guide is missing how to handle the a) renaming of the now upgraded templates or b) deleting them. I tried renaming 14 to 15 and ended up with new templates having the upgraded name with 15 in them. Maybe this is just a problem with Qubes Manager. Used to run Gentoo with qemu / kvm and was passing through 3 GPU's each running win10 for over a year. It took some time to setup and was a fun project to figure out things. There was no lag or crashes and Games were running smooth thanks to vfio! Since upgrade to new Template fedora 29 in R4, clicking links does not open up the menu. Email Attachments do start in dispVM. Having fun with qubes r4 but can't help myself with this problem. sudo lvs, shows me a bunch of deleted VM's that 'seem' to eat up my disk space. 1) Mostly used Qubes Manager to delete them. How do you delete appVM's / TemplateVM's the right way so that no zombies will up on sudo lvs? 2) Why do i see these deleted VMs in /dev/qubes_dom0/ better yet these deleted VM's leave stuff / traces on disk in, /dev/mapper/ /dev/qubes_dom0/ /home/XXX/.config/menus/applications-merged/user-vmName-vm.menu /var/log/qubes/ /var/log/xen/ 3) sudo lvdisplay is showing me backups, vm--number-back, are these actual backups?
