Sometime you can get this error even if the command succeeds 

Check the target VM for the copied file. It may actually be there.

ls ~/QubesIncoming/vm-name/dir-name

This guide is old and doesn't include split-gpg, which you may prefer
over copying keypairs to VMs; see

The error above is what you get when files aren't found (same as in your
next post). Are you sure that the "whatever_gpg_p*_lesser.key" glob is
OK ? What does `ls -l whatever_gpg_p*_lesser.key` show ?

After research I executed the new command Q4.0. I get now this error:

user@vault:~$ qvm-copy personal whatever_gpg p*_lesser.key
