I don't have a mac though, and I had to find the right usb port on my laptop that I could boot from (some didn't work), and I had to use the EFI boot option, not legacy boot. So I think your usb stick is OK, but I can't help with the mac side. Thanks for the suggested workaround, and I hope it helps others. I only have one machine at the moment, so I'm going to keep searching for a workaround with the existing ISO. As noted in my previous post, there are two partitions on the USB stick, one for Qubes (sdb1), and one labeled ANACONDA (sdb2). I'm guessing that ANACONDA is for the Fedora installer (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda), but the sdb1 partition is the one marked bootable. The grub menu has the install chainloading from /EFI/BOOT/xen.efi, which exists on both the Qubes and Anaconda partitions. Which xen.efi is it *supposed* to chainload from? [qubes-users] Re: Cannot Install R3.2 on MacBookPro11,1
Hi, I'd also like to bump this issue, if no one has solved it, because I'm experiencing the same problem. I notice when I take a look at my flash drive after running `sudo dd if=Qubes-R3.2-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb`, I see the following in fdisk: - Disk /dev/sdb: 7,5 GiB, 8004304896 bytes, 15633408 sectors Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disklabel type: dos Disk identifier: 0x020e6c95 Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sdb1 *0 8294399 82944004G 0 Empty /dev/sdb2 968 63923 62956 30,8M ef EFI (FAT-12/16/32) - The /dev/sdb2 partition seems to start and end in the middle of /dev/sb1; cfdisk is also reporting 7,4G of "Free Space" in addition to the two partitions, which doesn't seem possible with a 4G partition on a 7,5G disk. I have completely reformatted the drive twice now, with separately downloaded images, each verified and checksummed from different locations. I still receive the same results. I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem or merely incidental, but I thought I would post it to the discussion. [Side Note: I'm working on Macbook hardware, but in an existing Linux Mint 18 install for creation of the USB stick.] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
