Not sure this is random but all you errors appear on platform that seem to
use LC_CTYPE = C.UTF-8

I cannot reproduce the error in the example files. Also, I have no idea how
to fix the error on the r-devel-linux-x86_64-debian-gcc

 , r-patched-linux-x86_64

 and r-release-linux-x86_64


Where do I start and how can this error be fixed?
