(RADIATOR) remove space from password

2002-11-20 Thread Mohammed AbdusSami

Dear All,

Hope you are fine.

When a user enter the password for authentication.
Due to some misprinting user is entering a space after first character. So I
want to trim space from password if it is available in second position.

Ex: if user enter password as : a
290239v

I want to take this password as : a290239v

Note : In this example user entered
space in second position

Tnx in advance.

If the entry for the user is still in the session database, then yes
there will be a problem. The session database must be maintained
correctly for simultaneous use to be useful. You should check to make
sure your are receiving the accounting stop records from the NAS, as
these are what cause the user's entry to be removed from the session
database.

 Hi,

 I am using PAP authentication.

What exactly does encrypted passwords mean in this context?

Anything other than plaintext.

I can get the short unix crypt passwords to work, but not
something longer like MD5 - either raw or as in the gnu/linux
 /etc/shadow file.
If the check item you are using is 'Password' or 'User-Password', then the
password in your database can be in any of these forms:

typeexample
plaintext fred
unix crypt {crypt}1xMKc0GIVUNbE
SHA {SHA}0DPiKuNIrrVmD8IUCuw1hQxNqZc=
MD5 $1$cTpht$Obu9PLSMst1TDou.mN5bk0
MD5 (mime)  {MD5}VwqQv7+MfqtdxdTiaDLVsQ==

If the check item is 'Encrypted-Password', you can use:
unix crypt {crypt}1xMKc0GIVUNbE
unix crypt 1xMKc0GIVUNbE
SHA {SHA}0DPiKuNIrrVmD8IUCuw1hQxNqZc=
MD5 $1$cTpht$Obu9PLSMst1TDou.mN5bk0
MD5 (mime)  {MD5}VwqQv7+MfqtdxdTiaDLVsQ==

You can probably conclude from this that the only difference between
User-Password and Encrypted-Password is how a bare unintroduced sequence of
characters is to be interpreted, either as plainext or as unix crypt.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

 Thanks for any hints!

I cannot see anything wrong with your configuration file, but I
suspect your NAS probably requires some additional reply attributes
in the Access-Accept to start a session. Usual attributes include
something like this:

Service-Type = Framed-User,
Framed-Protocol = PPP,
Session-Timeout = ,
Idle-Timeout = nnn,
Framed-Compression = Van-Jacobson-TCP-IP

I will need to see a complete trace 4 debug from Radiator to see what
is happening (you should also check a debug on your NAS to see what
it says).

Hello AdbusSami -

Thank you for sending the debug output, but it just demonstrates what
I pointed out in my previous mail, in that you are only sending back
to the NAS a Framed-IP-Address and Framed-IP-Netmask in the
Access-Accept:

Mon Feb 19 09:42:53 2001: DEBUG: Access accepted for [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Mon Feb 19 09:42:53 2001: DEBUG: Packet dump:
*** Sending to 212.24.225.118 port 1645
Code: Access-Accept
Identifier: 20
Authentic: 1472238214J5134144133N~Q237@0
Attributes:
Framed-IP-Netmask = 255.255.255.192
Framed-IP-Address = 172.16.1.106

You will need to add at least these additional attributes:

Service-Type = Framed-User,
Framed-Protocol = PPP,
Session-Timeout = ,
Idle-Timeout = nnn,
Framed-Compression = Van-Jacobson-TCP-IP

There may also be some configuration required on your NAS to allow it
to accept IP addresses from radius.

I cannot see anything wrong with your configuration file, but I
suspect your NAS probably requires some additional reply attributes
in the Access-Accept to start a session. Usual attributes include
something like this:

   Service-Type = Framed-User,
   Framed-Protocol = PPP,
   Session-Timeout = ,
   Idle-Timeout = nnn,
   Framed-Compression = Van-Jacobson-TCP-IP

I will need to see a complete trace 4 debug from Radiator to see what
is happening (you should also check a debug on your NAS to see what
it says).

2001-02-03 Thread Mohammed AbdusSami

Dear All,

Suppose if I have a field called NOOFSESSIONS in subscribers database which
will have max. no of sessions assigned for that username.

My question is can I restrict the number sessions for the users to the
number of sessions available for their username. Here for each users no. of
sessions will be different.

tnx in advance.

You will need to use AuthBy DYNADDRESS and an AddressAllocator SQL.

There is an example configuration file in the Radiator 2.17.1
distribution in the file "goodies/addressallocator.cfg".
