Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Status of radio battery?

2009-11-19 Thread kantblue

Couldn't agree more with the other posters here.

I have now put my squeezebox radio back in its box as without the
battery pack I can't use it in the place I purchased it for.

I notice now that the battery pack has completely disappeared from the
website which is not a good sign IMHO.

I also don't want or need the remote, just the battery pack.

At best a hidden SSID will make a hacker go for another network than
yours.
They can find out the SSID as easy as they can clone your MAC Address.
At worst your neighbourghs will not know that you are ocupying a

My Duets had some trouble when I was hiding my SSID. Using WPA.

[SlimDevices: Radio] alarm is not working reliable

2009-11-19 Thread moritz

I am very unhappy with my new SB Radio.

Why the alarm does not work every day?
Sometimes I am awakened, sometimes not. I have already loaded the
latest firmware, but the alarm is not working reliable.

My SB Classic works well with the same attitude. What I am doing
wrong?

Thanks for the support and greetings from Germany!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Status of radio battery?

2009-11-19 Thread funkstar

Before the Radio was released, there was discussion about the
Accessories Pack in the Beta forum. This may not still be the plan, but
Logitech did intend having the two items as separate accessories
eventually. Although I would guess they would only be available through
Logitech and some specialist retailers, where as the Accessories Pack
will most likely be available on shelves along wide the Radio itself.

These things take time, especially at this time of year and when you
are importing everything from China. There are only so many ships and
containers sailing around the world to fulfil the western worlds desire
for Christmas gifts and other paraphernalia. Production schedules will
also be tight, there may be a complete shortage of AA cells from that
supplier, there may be a very low production rate from the factory
assembling them together into the pack and testing them until back logs
are worked through.

Only a few of the beta testers have batteries, I still have a beta
hardware unit and probably won't get a retail version until the start of
the year sometime.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] alarm is not working reliable

2009-11-19 Thread simsboard

my SBR was working fine for a while but since a few days I have a
similar problem = the alarm is set and the icon on the
digital-clock-screensaver is shown as well but not starting as it
should:

*) the alarm should be triggered while the SBR is connected to
mysb.com
*) I have two alarm configured
= first alarm plays an mp3-file stored on a web-server (a
news-podcast) - the mp3-file normally takes 15min
= second alarm is 15min after the first alarm and is configered to
play an online radio-station

I've now 3 different scenarios which I encountered the last days:
Thuesday:
*) first alarm started with the beep-tone (backup-alarm)
*) I switched off the alarm and tried to start an online-radio manually
via a preset button
*) starting the radio failed
*) then I tried to select the online-radio via the favourites
*) but the favourites-menu did not open (it seemed to me as if my SBR
was not connected any more to mysb.com)
*) I rebooted the SBR = afterwards I could start immediatly the
online-station via the preset-button

Wednesday:
*) first alarm started with the beep-tone (backup-alarm)
*) I switched off the alarm and tried to start an online-radio manually
via a preset button
*) starting the radio failed (same impression that the SBR was not
connected to mysb.com = antenna-icon was blue!)
*) I did not do anything further but then the second alarm started as
it should 15min after the first alarm

Thursday:
*) yesterday evening I had to change the time when the alarm should
ring = just 20min earlier
*) today morning nothing was played at all and I overslept! aggrrr!!

PS:
I have to admit that beginning of this week changed the firmware: by
mistake I was installing the beta-version (which caused some other
problems) and changed back to the official release afterwards
= any idea if this could have an impact?

:)

Yeah everytime something doesn't work as it should buy something else
to integrate with it that will make it work! That would make a lot of
companies happy!! :)

Anyway what is more annoying with this is that you can't say don't sync
volume if you have three devices. If you say on the radio don't sync
volume then it wno't go up and down when the other two devices go up and
down. But if you move the volume up and down on the radio the other two
devices go up and down. Only other solution is no syncing of volume on
any devices! which is not a solution for me.

Still getting audio sync issues as well between the radio and other
devices.

Not ecstatic about this purchase to be honest.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Price drop on Squeezebox Radio - partial refunds for recent purchasers?

2009-11-19 Thread iPhone

Isn't the point that YOU wanted it NOW so you ordered it when you
did. If you ordered/bought it before the price went down at Best Buy or
Amazon what is there to complain about? You bought it and got it when it
cost what you paid for it.

I understand buying it from Amazon and having the price go down the
next day, but in that case, Amazon will refund the difference within 30
days just for cases like this.

As far as Logitech goes, the price IS $199 so that is what is what. So
if the price is $199 why would Logitech need to refund anything? There
is no statement on the website that says they price match so nobody
should be expecting that. Most manufactures that sell direct don't price
match, why would they compete with their retail distribution chain.
Either way its sold, they get the money. They get to keep more if they
sell it for MSRP.

Maybe that's the trick. I could start using the power button in place
of the pause button when I want music to stop playing. I'm an iPeng

It's a new feature since 1.2: The main power button acts on all
devices of a synced group, as does the main volume bar.

However that doesn't address what happens when an album plays in its
entirety -- the players would all stay on.

That's true. What _I_ do here (again: simple in iPeng on the players
screen) is to shut off all players except the one in the bedroom and
then set a sleep timer for the one in the bedroom. Thinking of it, you
don't need the latter since the bedroom one will be the one to do the
alarm anyway.

And if you don't fall asleep to music you could just use that main
power button to turn off all devices when you go to bed - this is what
this feature is made for - OK, MY man use is tu turn them all off when I
leave the house but that's similar, isn't it?

Maybe I should just stop getting up at 5am...problem solved!

I'd find that one the best solution.
