Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Reboot when Power-Off
It was just for a quick test. But with MySB it *always* stayed powered-down. But when connected to MySB, the problem can be reproduced every time. It simply won't stay powered down on first try, no matter what I've done before, if playing music, or beeing in stand-by. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Dimming Dilemma
Hi Loom It's the other way round - although the effect is the same. Brightness is reduced after a bit of inactivity to increase the lifetime of the backlight. However this is only necessary at the upper end of the brightness scale. 7.4.x did it over the complete brightness range although it wasn't necessary in the lower end. In fact it was kind of annoying that you could define a minimum brightness which then would go darker after a moment of inactivity. Therefore 7.5.x changes the behavior to only dim in the upper half of the brightness scale, but not below. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Now it stopped working altogether (German data center of MYSB is done for?)
I kinda gave up reporting each time the radio shows the blue icon and needs a reboot to find MYSB again. Hard to tell if this is only caused by the totally buggy radio software or if the server still has issues. Probably both. I'm SO tired of this and the other issues. I beginning to wonder if this brand will survive this disaster for another few months. The classic SB is canceled, the release date for the Touch is completely uncertain and with it the release of a new software is delayed again and again. Anyway, the Radio is still exactly as buggy as in October 2009 when I bought it. If somebody told me at this time that I would have to mess with the same alpha software in February, for sure I would have considered other options. Now really, if the Touch shifts into April or even summer, they should at least release a 7.4.2 software to fix the worst Radio bugs ASAP. There are so many internet radios on the market in the meantime and while they might suck in other aspects, at least the basic functionality is working. -- 0xdeadbeef 0xdeadbeef's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2287 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71964 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Do I need Squeezebox server?
short answer is no. You're just fine using mysqueezebox.com. If you want to play your own music, our use many of the 3rd party plugins, you'll need the SbS. But for straightforward internet radio, podcasts, pandora, etc., you don't need the server running. Even if you install the server, you can switch back and forth to mysb.com if you want. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Do I need Squeezebox server?
If you run a SBS you can make use of the wonderful BBC iPlayer plug-in. My understanding is that it can do a lot more than the BBC app on MySB. Particularly it has Listen Again support, so you aren't stuck only listening to live broadcasts. For me this is essential functionality. I also make use of the KidsPlay plug-in in order to convert one of the hard preset buttons into a sleep button. Again, this is high-order bit functionality for me. Of course I would use SBS regardless just because I have a local music library as well as some older non-MySB players. However, that wasn't your question. -- BigPotato BigPotato's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29342 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74807 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Dimming Dilemma
Thanks for the explanation! However, I like it dark at night. I turned he minimum brightness down so the clock is just barely visible. Unfortunately, when navigating the menus in the dark, it's almost impossible to read them. And when I turn the brightness up to read the menus, the clock is too bright for me to sleep. So, an elegant option for 7.5.0 would be to turn the brightness up for an additional 30% when operating the unit. And if not, falling back for the minimum brightness after a certain amout of time.
