[SlimDevices: Radio] BBC Radio unavailable...
Normally wake up to Radio 2 - but this morning just got the annoying internal "music" - tried to manually switch to the radio to find all my presets gone and Radio 2 now playing "due to rights restrictions this part of the program is unavailable" - this is happening on my Boom as well so not sure it's a logitech issue. One thing I have niticed with the presets since upgrading is that the background does not change to show which radio station is playing. Why is it everytime there is a software update something goes wrong? -- Quoling Quoling's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33399 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79963 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Using SBR at a hotel that requires an access code
Use an ethernet cable to connect Radio to laptop, and enable Internet connection sharing on the laptop. Code: Radio ---ethernet---> Laptop ~~~wireless~~~> hotel WiFi You'll need to leave your laptop running, but this should work. You should be able to use any old Ethernet cable, as both Radio and your laptop should have "auto-sensing" ports (years ago, sharing like this would have required a "crossover" Ethernet cable). Good luck. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79959 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] My 7.5.1 experience so far.....
First let me say that I love this radio (not as much as my two booms and my two receivers and my controller, but I love this radio). I have very bad radio reception on my regular radios, so now I can listen to all my local stations. I can also listen to podcasts and I also am a Sirius radio subscriber. Plus, lots of other stuff like Pandora, Slacker, etc. But, the 7.5.1 update was a total flop. I don't know that anything changed. 1. When I first turn the radio on, it plays for less than 30 seconds and then turns off (same behavior as pre-upgrade). 2. The alarm turns on but shuts off after a few seconds (no matter if it is set on Sirius or Pandora - have not tried other stuff). 3. Once alarm turns off by itself, it never sounds a snooze alarm. 4. Sometimes, the "art" doesn't update when I change from one radio station to another or from one Sirius channel to another. When that happens, the radio must be rebooted (if that's the right term - hold power button and let it shut down then press the power and let it boot up again). I wonder what the upgrade fixed? Didn't they do any testing before they released this thing? I use Mysqueezebox.com almost exclusively. From what I've read here, perhaps the behavior would be better if i used squeezebox server but the fact is, my computer is normally off. In summary, I think the radio is great. It would be really wonderful if they got some of the bugs out of it. -- ciarmer ciarmer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37631 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79825 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Using SBR at a hotel that requires an access code
I'm on a trip. I have my laptop and my SBR. At the hotel I connect my laptop wirelessly to the inet by: 1) Clicking "connect to a network" icon 2) Select the network 3) Open browser and enter access code (FDRMD12345) At this point my laptop is connected. When I try to connect the SBR., I do this: 1) Settings, Advanced, Networking, Choose network, Connect to wireless network 2) I select "hhonors" (others are grayed out) 3) Connecting to hhonors is successful as shown by "Diagnostics" screen: wireless network=hhonors & wireless signal=83% At this point I need to know what to do to get the SBR to show Favorites screen, etc. In other words, how do I get it to play inet radio stations? Perhaps if I could enter the hotel's access code it would work. My laptop is running SB server, but the wireless network I'm communicating with is the hotel's. When I select "My Music" and try to connect to the laptop, SBR says "problem connecting -- we couldn't connect to ACER. Make sure comp is turned on..." At one point I had the option of connecting to MSB.com, though I cannot find that menu item lately. I was not successful in connecting to MSB.com either. Is there a way to solve this problem and and get my SBR to play? Thanks for any help. -- rhirsch rhirsch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36016 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79959 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Out of curiosity, is your computer's clock showing the same as the Radio? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] changing from server to server?
Do you have music on your computer that you want to play? If so, you can hit "Home", then "My Music" and it will connect to Squeezebox server. Otherwise, you can try Home, Settings, Advanced, Networking, then switch to Squeezebox Server. Maybe there's an easier way, but not that I have learned yet. Also, I'm assuming your Squeezebox Server is actually up and running. -- diannabill diannabill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38082 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79955 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] changing from server to server?
Two ways that I know of: 1. Navigate into My Music. You should see a prompt screen asking whether you want to connect to the last connected local Squeezebox Server. 2. Place 'Switch Server' on your Home Menu through Settings > Home Menu. (I don't recall for sure, but you may already have to be connected to a local server before you'll see this option in the Home Menu settings. Home Menu customization is odd like that.) With 'Switch Server' in the Home Menu you can do it directly instead of needing to go into My Music. -- JJZolx Jim JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79955 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] changing from server to server?
I'm running mysqueezebox.com to control my SBR. I can't switch back to Squeezebox server web control..even after closing out MSB.com. I've had Squeezebox server running in the past, but can't figure now how to open and close one and open the other. Also, don't suggest I get in touch with Logitech support..via email or phone is just cruel and unusual punishment. -- toppy toppy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36163 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79955 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I really hate updating the server because I run the perl files and then have to edit them with a patch that was created for an older version so that it will sort albums by year on the device (not talking about the web interface)...so it is not a quick thing for me to do. Until the people in control decide to put this feature in (one of the oldest and most requested fixes in bugzilla) then I will have to just put up with the incorrect clock. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Back off
First of all: I didn't bother reading the entire thread. Just a few pages of it. But this is how I observe the "senior members" (whatever defines that) act when someone screams that their SB is a PoS: They let the poster know that noone at Logitech reads this forum anyway (except ofcourse the ocasional developer). If they want to let out steam to Logitech there are better ways. Then after that, they instictively go into problem solving mode, asking for details about the issues the OP has. If the OP is then willing to go into the dialogue, I have seen in more cases than not, that the problem ends up getting solved. And thus, the OP ends up being a happy (or at least happier) SB user. I would rather say that the "senior members" are doing great. Actually Fantastic. Once in a while there may slip a comment about what expectations to have that is less friendly than needed. But overall, it is the "senior members" that carry the forums on their shoulders. So please don't back off. -- Muele BR Mogens 2 Radios (1 battery), 2 Controllers, 2 Receivers, 1 Squeezeplay.
