Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] C-SPAN Gone

2010-12-17 Thread toby10

Email C-SPAN, inform them that their change to Flash based streams means
many hardware devices (non-computer devices) can no longer get C-SPAN.
You could also ask them for a non-Flash direct stream URL that you can
paste into your Favorites.

Changing to flash is for the sole purpose of forcing listeners to face
the computer screen to see the adds and other marketing ploys .

Thats why they do it usually.

Your answer is right there, government and making sense just do not go
together. ;)

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio station stream for alarm

2010-12-17 Thread ejnj

Set the radio station as a favorite.
Then go to alarm- alarm sound- favorites- then set your station. It
should work now.

Every so often the station may not work and the radio will play some
other default sound. And every so often the alarm will not work. I
don't know why. Be forewarned, I never depend solely on the radio as
an alarm.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] C-SPAN Gone

2010-12-17 Thread mpower9

Thanks for your replies. I will contact C-SPAN to see if I can get some
link that will work with the SBR.

FYI - C-SPAN covers the Congress and related civic and public issues
and events, but is not run by the government. To quote from its
website:

C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable
television industry as a public service. Our mission is to provide
public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government
funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite
affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming.
