[SlimDevices: Radio] Adding Sirius Radio

2011-07-02 Thread uniman

Hello,
I recently bought a Squeezebox and would like to add Sirius Radio. I
have only seen Sirius in cars I've rented, and so I'm afraid I'm going
to have to ask a few basic questions... I understand there's a monthly
subscription fee for Sirius Radio; but is there also hardware I have to
get in order to obtain all of the Sirius channels on the Squeezebox? I
like the Sirius Interface...how is it displayed on the Squeezebox; or
again, is it on a separate device that connects to the Squeezebox. Any
step-by-step advice on how to do this, and how well it works (or does
not!) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

And clocks!! Don't forget to unplug the clocks! Seriously, the Radio's
carbon footprint is nothing compared to mundane things like the dust
bunnies on most people's refrigerator coils, walking/cycling instead of
car for short trips, etc.

After buying a "kill-a-watt" meter I was amazed at the vampire draw in
my house when I added it all up (even the washer and dryer have idle
draw). Now when we will be away for more than the day I take 2 min. and
unplug stuff / turn off power strip switches / turn off wall switches /
turn off breakers. When I look at year to year comparison power use it
is actually noticeable. Our power company also send power use "report
cards" which mainly (anonymously) compares usage among similar houses
in the area and lets you know how your use compares to your neighbors
and there is a noticeable change there also.

Yes... and I assume you also unplug your TV, VCR, DVD player, cable/sat
box, AVR/amp, microwave oven, etc... when not in use?
I agree in not wasting energy where possible, but let's not go
overboard. ;)
