This no longer works. Several buttons seem to have an effect when the
alarm popup is being displayed, but none of them seem to quite do what
I want.

Pressing the Pause button twice comes closest, but, illogically,
restarts the currently playing song.

The usual reason that I want this is so that I can "Love" the track on
last.fm. I use that as a kind of notepad to temporarily mark tracks
that I want to put into a playlist at some later time. Restarting the
song means it gets scrobbled twice.

Is it worth filing a bug?

Yep - it's possible - but takes some time (which Logitech does not have
I guess).
The problem is that right now the Radio constantly talks to the server
when streaming ('hey I'm at minute 1:23 of that stream') to allow for
all remotes to show the progress bar.
So if the Radio just startet, the server would be very confused.

Guess it's alot of code to change to make the Radio not talk to the
server again (and have the Radio not stop the stream, when the server
wants to take over again).

And then come the people that want to configure their alarm via their
iPhone or the Webinterface and are unhappy if that's not possible.

I happen to own an SB3 with Slim Devices logo on it, hope it never

That clarifies things for me, thank you. I's not totally understandable
to me why it has to be like that, but I'm not a software architect, so
I'll shut up.

On the other hand: shouldn't it be dead easy to create an alarm app (or
whatever those programs are called that run natively on the radio and
touch) that simply powers the unit on and starts a stream at a given
time, totally independent from the server?

The proper solution is to install the BBCiPlayer Applet

On SB radio go to Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer

Make sure "Recommended Applets Only" is unchecked.

Then select the "BBC Radio" Applet and install it.

When installed - there will be a "BBC Radio" menu under "My Apps"

[SlimDevices: Radio] Iplayer on mysqueezebox

2011-08-12 Thread VikkiB

I want to be able to listen to the bbc podcasts on my squeezebox radio.
I don't want to have to use a server. I found some adice on Amazon
"P. Sollich says:
Hi, I've bought the radio in the mean time and found a way of making
BBC listen again work on the squeezebox radio without a PC (so this is
my own answer to (a) and (b)): install the podcast player app, then go
to (these next steps require a PC, but only the first time around)
www.iplayerconverter.co.uk and get the RSS feed link for the
_international_ windows media audio on demand stream (for your chosen
BBC station). Copy this into the podcast player app. When you next go
to "My apps" on the radio and then to the podcast player, you'll see
the BBC on demand link; from there you can browse through all the
available content. I'll have another check of the fast
forward/rewind/pause functions - my memory is that they work when using
the podcast player to access BBC on demand as above, though oddly the ff
and rew buttons seem to require a fair bit of pressure to react."
I have followed this advice and I can see all the content I want to
listen to but I can't actually listen to it? I have tried selecting it
and pressing the play button but all I get it the radio station that I
am currently listening to rather than the podcast.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

Thank you

Hm. well, maybe try a reboot of the Radio.

If no go try going to Radio > Settings > Home Menu, see if maybe My
Apps is not selected as a Home menu item. This section will offer
different selection options depending on which version of SBS you are
running.

I think the WiFi icon colors are not functioning correctly, so you may
have actually been connected to your router with a Red icon.
I've seen this twice on my Radio recently on two different WiFi's. I
select network, spinny circle says it connected, but then the next
screen is "try again" with a Red icon.
With that Red icon I go to the Home menu, select MySB or SBS and it
connects to either immediately, so obviously it had to be connected to
the WiFi. *shrug*

I'd at least try a different WiFi router off of the BT, see if it
solves the issue. You can always return the new router if it solves
nothing.
If you do this make sure you turn OFF the BT's WiFi so it won't
interfere with the new WiFi signals.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Can't see 'My Apps' on Radio

2011-08-12 Thread mberger

I've received my £84.90 Radio (see below) and I'm impressed so far. But
I don't have a 'My Apps' selection available on the Home menu. I can
play Last.fm etc on the Radio, but only if I select it on the SBS web
interface. Have I forgotten to do something?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio Nightmare

2011-08-12 Thread cparker

Not quite the same problem, but my radio was prompting for a firmware
upgrade.

After installing the "upgrade" it couldnt find the wireless network at
all, displayed the red icon. Rebooted it and still it didnt find
anything. I then did a restore to factory settings under the advanced
menu, it then found the wireless again! Then prompted for an upgrade
again, which I installed and this time its worked.

Only downside is now I've lost all my settings and have to put them all
back in again :(
